I’ve 9 Mak, .380 ACP & .32 ACP. The 9mm Mak & .380 use the same, but not the .32. I have a few .32 mags, NIW & I’ve been offered $200 for one, even after I’ve said none are for sale. |

Great gun to console… Sorry to bear bad news. The CZ83 is one of the least appreciated handguns. The .32 is like a target handgun. But if this is your first, there are 2 types of 9mm Mak & .380 mags: there are welded front/rear seams that stick & don’t drop-free and the real CZ smooth mags that are awesome. And, the 9mm Mak & .380 are the same, so that helps when there’s used surplus. Cheers! |

I own 2 82's and a nickel 83 in 380. I did convert one of the 82's to 32acp. It has only the one mag. The nickel 83 was had at a gun store that was going out of business and if it was shot at all, was very little. Reason I converted the one 82, it was a Century Monday special with actual rifling but didn't shoot well or to the point of aim. Now I love these little pistols but they are a 20yard gun at best in my hands. That's just how they are for me. |

It should be theoretically possible to modify an CZ-82 mag to .32. I was comparing the .380 (recall the 9mm Mak & .380 ACP are essentially the same) with .32 ACP and there’s a depressed, flat ridge along the back of the .32 mag (towards the witness holes) on the lateral mag walls to account for the semi-rimmed, smaller case. So, a thin metal liner (I’d guess 0.065” 1/16” as a start point?) inserted & bent to follow the inner mag wall bend in the .380 mag should be able to address that extra ridge on the right and left lateral mag walls. A similar inside magazine rear wall insert could bump the cartridge forward in the mag, if needed, but would mess the witness holes, obviously, but a drill could resolve that problem. But Seecamp mags have it & some KelTec owners did similar alterations to get shorter .32 ammo like Silvertips to feed & prevent rimlock. The liner/insert could also provide new, appropriate feed lips or a designated mg hve its feed lips permanently altered. As I think about it, the liner doesn’t have to even be metal. Yes, it would be more durable, but Teflon or some other thermoplastic polymer could be heat formed (?Kydex?) as a proof of concept & even help feeding. I’m just not savvy with sheet metal fabrication & don’t have what’s needed, other than the mags. The springs are allegedly the same, but the followers are a little different in mine, so…plausible with the right experience in sheet metal. But in this 3D printer or even JB Weld era, where there’s a will… Anyone understand what I’m trying to ineloquently describe? If so, please feel free to try it. |
