I have a M&P 45 I got for dirt cheap and a G41 I changed gears on and decided to keep mostly OEM. Saw EuroOptic has these on sale for $110 and I was planning to keep them irons only but these might be an easy and cheap slight upgrade. It’s my understanding they are pretty much an in between from irons to a full window red dot in use. Faster on target but still require re-acquisition similar to irons with a slight increase in speed. I know what they aren’t, just want to see if any owners can weigh in on if they’re an upgrade over irons (and for $110). ETA: At $110 a piece I went ahead and bought one of each model. Worst case scenario I have some weird obscure barely used Leupold sites to sell to some weirdo 10 years from now. |

I have a few on Glocks and M&P 40s. I am pleased with the setup even though I have an astigmatism. I have on on a Glock 17R as a dry fire gun and I have the slide off a second to have it machined for an RMR for another dry fire gun. It is also on a couple of M&P Shields Plus with them. With the small viewing window one needs to spend some time building muscle memory... it can also be kinda like a ghost ring sight. I am toying with a taller front sight to see if the dot off ghost ring setup will work. You will notice that there are indents that gives you a rear sight like dots. I fill them with a white sight paint for a dot like rear sight appearance. Amazon has them for about $150.00 last I checked. I may have open heart surgery this spring so I will have lots of time to dry fire and to develop muscle memory to build speed. *** For the WTF is a G17R... it is a Red Gun produced by Glock, that is for training and it is rendered incapable of firing live ammo and the trigger resets without manipulating the slide. Dry fire when you have to work the slide to reset the trigger fixes one issue (capable of dry fire) and creates a second of building muscle memory to manipulating after each trigger press! I am a career long Firearms Instructor/Rangemaster retired from a major law enforcement agency, Want one... GT Distributors may still have them in stock. They received a number of them from a large LEO agency. So... I find comfort in the fact that if Trump has to work so hard to go to Heaven, then there is a shit load of Democrats that have no f-cking chance to go anywhere but HELL. Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a sledge-hammer.

Got the ones I ordered in. Just some initial observations as I haven’t installed them yet. Are they as easy to find the dot as a RMR? Not remotely. Are they as bad as the internet says? Not remotely. Not even mounted to a gun I have no problem finding the dot consistently. I already feel pretty validated in saying it’s a speed gap between irons and full open red dots, but I think it’s much less complicated than I was expecting. For $110 or if you don’t want to mill a gun, they’re pretty much a solid buy IF you’re not using a L2 retention holster. (Assuming it holds up, which there’s video of them being thrown out of a helicopter out there and it passed Aaron Cowan’s testing.) My only disappointment was my hopes that the smaller lenses would reduce my astigmatism, but they’re not quite small enough for that. |

Got it mounted. When it comes to functioning like a red dot, it’s perfectly useable just a little more picky. Now the not so obvious, the turrets don’t have detents and windage and elevation adjust at different increments. As a $400 optic, no way I would buy this. As a $100 optic, I might buy more.
