It seems RMR is most common, but I have seen a few interesting optics that use the DPP footprint (including the Leupold DPP). It's been around for a while. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? I don't want to make a permanent mod and this to go out of style, but I also like having options. |

| It isn't a dead footprint, but it isn't the most popular anymore. The larger Vortex stuff still uses the footprint and they just brought out an enclosed optic for it. The Holosun SCS320 is another solid enclosed option. The screw location makes it easier to design an enclosed optic, if that matters to you. |

I wouldn't get a slide milled to mount a real DPP, but Vortex makes several DPP footprint options (open & closed emitter) as well as the Holosun SCS 320 (plus whatever Sig makes, for someone willing to give them money). Freedom Gorilla link |

I wouldn’t think twice about it. There’s plenty of great optics in that footprint. It’s old but generally speaking Deltapoint Pros are solid, the Vortex Defender ST and XL are both solid af and use that footprint, Eflex seems to be decent and on that footprint as well. |

People have tens of thousands of rounds on Deltapoint Pros with zero issues. The problem for Leupold is over the years they’ve had a ton of silent improvements on the DP Pro they never advertised for reliability and older ones give them a negative rating. Deltapoint Pros are good to go. |

Freedom Gorilla link I have 2 Glock slides I want to get milled. I'm considering doing one in RMR or RMSc and the other DPP, so I can have options. I have an RMR cut Dagger slide on the way now, and I have a Canik with a bunch of adapter plates. One of my .22s has the Shield cut. I'm not generally a fan of modern Sig, but I do have one of their sights, and I like it a lot (nice glass, big window, simple controls). I got it super cheap on the EE; it was my first pistol dot, and I didn't want to spend a lot to see if I like the idea. It's been a couple years now (I think), and it's still going strong. I wouldn't rule out getting another one.

I won a Vortex defender with the DPP footprint at a match a few weeks ago and I was already kinda leaning toward buying one. I decided to finally get my G34 milled. The footprint is kinda big, so the rear sight had to be relocated to the front, but I've been happy with it.

I haven't looked yet, but I don't recall seeing anything like that when I did look at some places doing slide milling. The Echelon and RXM have interesting ideas, and *if* someone could do something like that to an existing slide, it might be a good idea. I would pay more for something like that in order to have the flexibility to use different brands of sights. I still have the Canik with 87 adapter plates, if I find something I like in a different footprint. |
