Surprisingly my eyes have not gotten any better beyond 50, so after years of denial I surrendered to the fact, that I should try some kind of red dot on my handgun. It is an early Gen3 G17, so nothing optic ready in the box. I hesitate to swap the gun for a gen5 or 6 soley for this test run, as this would comes with a lot of paperwork and $ over here, and >90% of my shooting is rifle anyway. Is there any Dovetail plate solution, that holds up to some beating? And I don't see many Shield RDs recommended here. Any reason for that? I was looking at some of the Shields RMS series, they would fit into my budget (+/- 500) and it's not as bulky as the ACRO or the Holosun 507 units, that I've looked through so far. Intended use: non-pro competition, back-up for hunting Thanks for any input. |
