I've had my 5" prodigy for a while...no issues at all, runs like a top (after I had to adjust the tension on the extractor). I see a lot of people talk about these "Ignition Kits" for them. Are they really "needed" in guns that already run fine? Or are they mainly to correct issues with problem guns? What are the pros/cons of those kits? Thanks for the info! |

| You might notice a slight improvement in the pull crispness if you get a get an ignition kit with a secondary sear angle, but no 1911 trigger kit can really be considered drop in, so I would leave it alone if you like the way it's running and it works well for you. |
| I polished up the trigger bar as it is cerakoted like the other metal parts. Got much smoother. Polished the disconnector ends as well. A lot can be done to clean up a 1911 trigger pull without having to buy an expensive kit. In the same boat, I will shoot it till something breaks then upgrade as needed. Already switched to an EGW flatwire recoil system. |

Thanks for the info! i think early pistols may have benefited more from a new ignition kit but in 2026, the Prodigy is fairly well sorted out. i think today, if you wanted to get a really nice trigger a EGW kit is not a bad idea. The only con i would say is that the ignition kits are around 130 dollars so you might not be able to ever financially recover from such a decision.... I have probably 12k on my egw kit, no complaints. |
