I love my new Tisas DS 9mm.....but the safety is just way to easy to flip down to make it ready to fire. It's an issue when I'm carrying it, especially with the ambi-saftey on them. Doesn't take much of a little bump to click the safety off. Can I just get a stiffer spring for it? I really don't want to do any filing on the detent "bump" ...I've heard about people just making the issue worse when they start doing that. Any ideas? I want a nice and firm detent that needs a decent amount of pressure to disengage....the way it currently it's it's way too light. Thanks! |

All the springs in my B45 were trash. The safety/slide stop spring was thin and weak. Sear spring was stamped from too thick of a material. It was ridiculously thick and stiff with a +9 pound trigger pull. Recoil spring and Mainspring weights were flipped. 20-something pound recoil weight, mid-teens MSH spring. Magazine release spring was so stiff, it made a momentary button impression in your thumb. A Wolff refresh spring set made everything right. |

Guess this must be a hit or miss thing. Just ordered a MAC 9 DS Comp and reviews say everything from terrible to great on the safety feel. Guess I'll wait until i get mine to see if new safety springs or needed or not. Definitely don't want to replace the ambi safety if not needed. It's already billet from the factory. So buying another billet set to fix the feeling would suck. |

The extra mass of the ambidextrous safety could make the spring feel either lighter or heavier. Or have no effect; ambi 1911 safeties come in an array of designs, so the answer to this is “it depends”. How does the slide stop feel when you release it? It’s the same spring…if the slide stop feels sloppy too, that points to the spring being too weak. It wouldn’t cost much to just mess with the spring. Wolff has 1911/Commander “plunger tube springs” for $3.49, so if stretching it doesn’t help, replacing it would probably cost more for postage than the part. Unless the DS is way different from a basic 1911, the only spring for the safety is that “plunger tube spring”. Their ambi safety may offer some complications in removal, but once the left hand part is off, you capture the plunger, either stretch the spring or replace it, then reassemble. Honestly, messing with the trigger/sear/disconnector spring is way more unpleasant than the safety/slide stop spring. |

Just installed the Wilson plungers and spring in my Tisas DS....HUGE difference in how positive the safety clicks in. Makes all the difference in the world. Best $11 I've ever spent on a gun mod
