| I have 2 Girsan, one Springfield one Inglis and an FEG P35 clones. They are all high quality handguns, at least as good as the FN/Browning. Of these pistols in my posession, the 2 Girsans are marginally the best of the bunch for fit, finish and function. I like the Springfield in that it is NOT fitted up with an ambidexterous safety and Springfield chose to delete the magazine disconnect. The Inglis also presented without the magazine disconnect. The FEG is the least accurate of the 5 pistols but it was an issued pistol and has seen considerable shooting before I bought it. All of the pistols produce above "service grade" accuracy. In short, YES, they are worth the asking price. |
| I have been considering getting one myself. Always wanted a real one but would never pay the asking prices. The SA 35 is tempting, I’m just about ready to buy one. Almost made the purchase a couple months back but I handed a Kuna locally when I was picking up a suppressor and bought it. |

I looked at the used Springfield SA35 at a LGS. The SA35 I looked at was basically like new and hadn’t been shot much. The trigger was good as well as the fit and finish. The price used was just more than I wanted to spend. I bought a Girsan MC P35 with black Cerakote on sale for $400 in 2023. PSA had a sale on the Inglis L9A1 for $400 in April of this year and I bought it. My Inglis has a better trigger than my Girsan but I did remove the magazine disconnect out the Girsan. I haven’t shot both side by side on paper but the Inglis seems to shoot tighter groups on steel plates at distance than the Girsan. Overall I like both and even better than a 60’s model FN P-35 model with the ring hammer and single sided safety I had 25 years ago. I should have never traded my old Hi Power. I didn’t want to pay the prices for FN Hi Power or FEG clones in the last ten years. The Inglis or Girsan MC P35 are a great buy at $400. | I have a standard and a stainless Inglis clone. They are both nice pistols and well worth the money. Their fit and finish is not nearly as good as my early 80s Browning, but they both have a better trigger than the Browning did out of the box. |

I’ve had one for several years. I ordered mine before they were released, and finally got a shipping notification exactly a year after the release date. During that time the extractor issues were widely talked about and SA stopped production to fix the issue, which it seems has pretty much been solved. The pistol is +P rated, so it does better with hotter loads and there have been some reported problems with 115s. You can find several threads about all of this here. While I was waiting on mine to show up, I picked up the BH Springs (now Hi Power Medic or something like that) reliability kit and changed out the extractor, sear lever, firing pin spring, and recoil spring to cover any potential issues. I did use a Browning OEM extractor, and the main reason I got the kit was for the specialty tools that you could get with the kit. The pistol I received was produced after the fixes (I don’t remember the problematic s/n range but that info is in the big SA35 thread I think) and with the parts I switched out I have had zero problems through several thousand rounds. I also replaced the sights with XS Sights tritiums, which I really liked. IMO, the SA35 is worth it. In fact, I just ordered the 4” barrel model and I should be picking that up in a day or two. I plan on doing the same parts switching on this one. I’ve shot several Inglis and Brownings over the years, and a Hi Power has been on my really want list ever since the first time I shot one; it just wasn’t enough of a priority to pick one up until SA came out with theirs. I don’t regret getting the one I have at all, it has been not only reliable but accurate as well. |

Springfields are sourced from turkey and assembled in the US. Just an fyi. Might as well get a turkey, they pretty much all get good reviews. Reviews I've read rate the Inglis models best and the girsan at the bottom but then that is probably a marginal difference and girsans seem to be the only modern tactical versions. I have the century centurion which is made by alpha arms. |
| I bought a FM Albatross [Importer] back when they were a couple hundred bucks and A WW2 German marked one [eagle over 140] for $500 with a holster at a gun show about 10-15 years ago. That's about it for my Hi Power experience. |

I bought one of the SA-35’s after they had been out awhile. I know early on the prices were pretty high due to the immediate demand. I paid about $650 for mine at the LGS. Being as mine was a later production and I initially fired about 200 rounds thought it, I thought I was safe from the dreaded extractor issues, FTE. Little did I know, shortly after that round count the FTE hit mine. Contacted SA cs and sent it back. Turnaround was quick and the cs rep I dealt with via email was prompt and professional. Got it back and it started the same FTE, just a fewer amount. Contacted SA again, sent it back and put it through its paces. So far after another 200rounds or so, it has not had a FTE. All of that being said, SA was great to deal with, although as long as this gun has been designed and in production, issues like this should not be an issue IMHO. You can find mine and another thread on this FTE issue in older posts. So, to answer your question, yes I would buy another. Many years ago I bought one of the last Browning Hi-Powers made in Belgium, an absolute beauty. For whatever reason, I ended up trading it. I looked around for older well used Hi-Powers and got sticker shock. When the SA came out I was wanting one bad but held off a while. I did pick up a Girsan at the LGS and was not impressed, the trigger was heavy and very gritty and fit and finish was just okay. For about another $150 I went with the SA. |

I have an original 1985 High Power Mkll, a early production Springfield SA-35, a Inglis new production and a Tisas HP. After fitting a new extractor in the Springfield, the extraction and malfunction problems went away. I have about 5,000 rounds after changing out the extractor through it with no issues. I love it so much that I use it as my carry gun. Out of all four of those, the Springfield is probably the most accurate, with the original HP coming in a very close second, with the other two of them roughly tied for the same accuracy. None of them are terrible at all, the Springfield is just slightly better than the rest. My next pistol is going to be the new high polish blued SA-35. |

I was thinking about picking one of these up today. I've read too many reviews about the extraction issues. People saying that even later production guns have the same issue with extractors sheering off and after being sent to SA, they're coming back with the same issues. I passed on it.

The main issue I’ve read and personally experienced is FTE. This is the first I’ve heard of the shearing of extractors. From what I have been told, the SA OEM extractors are MIM’d parts. This could very likely be the issue, although some have reported incomplete machining of the extractor channel in the slide. Mine appeared to be machined correctly as I could detect no abnormalities with a dental pick examination. According to the work Oder that was with my SA-35, my extractor was “tuned” back at the factory and a new extractor spring installed. There is a good supply and several sources of machined extractors available and I got one as a backup. |

Before I bought it I looked around for just an old beater Hi Power and seeing the prices on them, I passed. One thing I don’t like about my SA-35 is the trigger reset. It doesn’t have tactile reset. It is very soft on the reset, softer than any other pistol I have including Glocks, Sig P229, S&W Shield Plus, SA Garrison, etc. overall the trigger break is fairly decent, but the reset is non existent. I looked at the Girsan at the LGS when I bought the SA-35. I got the SA for about $75-$100 more, but the Girsan trigger was heavier and very gritty. A good cleaning and trigger job was definitely in order right up front. |

Just an FYI, Springfield has “vault” guns available which are essentially new. I picked one up for $500 and it’s superb. The trigger is extremely crisp, and you can feel the absence of the mag disconnect. I’ll probably pick up another. Incidentally, I’ve shot the Girsan and Inglis versions and they were accurate, but the triggers were very gritty and fitment was a bit sloppy. Not terrible, but for the price delta I prefer the SA-35. The FEG versions are very hit or miss due to machining or paint application. |
