I'm shopping for a handgun sight that's not super expensive (so - no RMR in the budget), but also not junk, as I might actually put it on a carry gun. In this realm, it looks like Holosun makes a well-regarded product. There are a couple of variants of the 407, and the least expensive one doesn't have the solar panel. I can't imagine a scenario where it would be necessary, but I guess it's possible. The solar one is $45 more. Not a deal breaker, but why spend $45 more if it's not a useful feature? I had one with the solar panels on top. I don't know why I bought it as it is either under my shirt for ccw and in the safe or drawer. Other than the size of the dot, which is not a big difference to me, it is your choice. ALSO, the website shows the one with the solar panel for $199.99 and without $169.99 today. One more things to add, my wallet hates things like this. |

The batteries last forever. I don't know if the version of 407 you are looking at has the shake awake but if it does the batteries last even longer. |

The 507C X2 battery tray opens with a small flathead. However, I am far from an expert on these. It took me about 4 years (not kidding) to realize that the brightness adjustment was on lockout mode, and that's why the reticle was so dim.   " />

I love the one with the solar panel on my turkey shot gun - shake awake and auto brightness.... I do not like the red dot on my carry gun being open - just gets too much junk and debris in it.... Research the enclosed reddots.... My 2 cents... Red |
