| I have a 1988 Sig Sauer P226 9mm pistol that I recently purchased a set of Hogue G10 contour grips for. They fit nicely except for the fact that they will not allow my decocking lever to travel downward enough to decock the pistol. It looks like the decocking lever thumb pad is hitting the grip and not letting the lever full downward travel. It always worked perfectly with the original plastic grips and my Sig Walnut grips but not these Hogue grips. So far, I have swapped out the lever with an Sig Factory lever with smaller thumb pad with still no go. The only option left is to try shims to take the lever further away from the frame in an attempt for clearance. I contacted Hogue with the problem and they are consulting with the designer of the grips but haven’t gotten back to me yet. I really like these grips but I have spent $50 already in parts trying to make them work. I haven’t received the shims yet to try. Any suggestions would be helpful. |
| Update: I tried to relocate the decocker with shims and tried changing the decocking lever all without success . I determined that it was grip interference and returned the contour grips to the dealer who is conferring with Hogue. I since obtained Hogue G10 std Piranha grips and they fit perfectly. If you have a early W German Sig P226 and want to try Hogue G10 Contour grips, you might have a fit issue like I did. Maybe it was just a fluke with my particular P226/Hogue contour grips? I have never encountered fit issues with Hogue before. |
