I saw there was a Heritage Rough Rider .22 revolver for sale at Rural King for $89. There is an offer for a free 22WMR cylinder with purchase. How are these guns? |

My boys each have one. Tons of fun for the money. They've been 100% problem free. Are there more accurate, higher-quality pieces out there? Sure. But none for less than $100. I've spent more money than that on dinner out for my family of 5 plenty of times. I say get one and start blasting. |

Good little guns. Align your expectations with the price point and just enjoy it. They do tend to punch above their weight class in terms of performance though. Now, try to find some of the cheaper crimped shot shells and you can have a riot with wood boring bees. |

We shoot at one of our properties regularly and I have never seen them have issues with them. Also, there is a guy at the clubs Bowlin pin shoots who uses one with no issues. I'll admidt, I've only seen them shoot .22lr and shorts, no idea on the WMRs... |

| Rough Riders are fun. We take ours out for a Saturday afternoon and have a blast, you can burn up 22LR and 22WMR and not worry too much about spending a lot of ammo money. Well, 22LR anyway. 22WMR has gotten a little pricey for what it is. You can get one in 22LR and get a 22WMR cylinder to go with it. |

They have gotten a lot better since taurus bought them. The one I had was pretty accurate. At that price, buy one. It is not a Single six, but one of those is roughly 10x the price. |

The feeling seems to be how can you go wrong at that price? At my club I have got my hands on a couple of them and they were pretty rough in function. Guys that owned them start off pretty excited but then after a while it gets quiet and you never see them shooting them much. I believe the better choice would be the low end Ruger (about $250) or a used single six . It all goes back to my basic thought, if you want to be entertained with any handgun you have to be able to hit stuff and that makes the quality of the trigger very important. |

Its like saying that tristar is on sale for $550, but yeah you'd be better off with the $2k beretta. |

I mean, it’s ok as a 22LR plinker. Accuracy is so-so at distance. Kinda fun to shoot. But… I got the 22MAG cylinder, and that sucks in the carbine. It spits lead and powder so bad, you end up with new freckles on your face. Never shot the magnum for accuracy because it just sucks |

I have two of them... with both .22LR and .22WMR cylinders... between the two I don't have $250 in to the pair. I deleted those gawd awful fugly safeties with the plugs found on ebay, otherwise my costs were be below $200 for the pair (free .22 mag cylinders w both). They are fun. Both have run just fine, no issues. Check the various screws from time to time (no need to bear down on them, a tiny drop of thread locker and snug 'em down). For cheap cheap... it is money well invested. No, they are not Colts or Rugers but these Heritage Rough Rider revolvers are hobby guns not top shelf examples of fine American craftsmanship. I say "get two of them". :) |

Used to think the safety was lame…but seeing as they are excellent for training novices to shoot, including young kids…I’ve come to appreciate them for that. Don’t like the safety, don’t use it. It’s amazing that they can make them for their price point…in the good old U.S.A. too boot! I didn’t buy any 20 years ago, maybe they weren’t as good then, but the few I’ve bought in recent years are solid and fun. Just picked up another one on sale, with rebate. Like with Anderson lowers, they were/ are making a shitton of them…which greatly increases the odds of a bad one to get through occasionally . |

The current production are much better than 20 years ago. New factory, modern manufacturing. I found the safety much quieter to use doing chipmunk pest control. Cocking the hammer spooked them, the safety didn't. Cci shotshells require you to be within about 8 yds. |

they are great value for the money. $124 I got the .22mag cylinder for it as well. make sure you tighten up all the screws and it will be good to go. I have not had any issues so far. |

Buy it, shit...It’s a cheap gun that's fun to plink with. Scratches your "old west gunfighter" itch nicely. Be SURE to check all the screws. My best friend's gun had the base pin latch fall out soon after he bought it. Luckily, the machine screws that come with car stereo speakers fit the hole perfectly, so we used one of those plus the little nut to use as a base pin latch. It has worked for 20+ years, but changing cylinders is a PITA. Mine came with really awful looking orange grips, so I got a decent set off ebay for ~$30. I also found a plastic piece to replace the safety for ~$25.
