I've noticed that with a good belt and decent holster that what I'm going to call "moderate weight" handguns (let's say a few oz shy of 30 oz unloaded) don't seem to be really any more comfortable than "heavy" handguns (the classic all steel 1911 for example). Obviously, very light handguns (micro 9's, little 380's for example) are more comfortable to carry than these heavier handguns. But it seems that there is a point where extra weight (within reason) doesn't really seem to affect comfort. Has anyone else noticed this? What has your experience been? |
| I wear my EDC in a MS Versa Max11 with an Atlas Volund G hook 1-3/4" belt. Normally I wear a Colt defender, but occasionally I have an Sig P226 in an OWB holster. I've had the belt for about ten years, the stiffness makes carrying a full size handgun a lot more comfortable. |

I carried a 1911 with one of those cheap thin leather belts (you can literally twist it) and I thought I'd never carry a 1911 again. I use Magpul belts now... there all leather reinforced with polymer except the El Burro which is just the polymer. Even the polymer only one is very good at supporting the weight of a full-size handgun such as a 1911. |
