First this is a copy of the post I made on the GD thread someone started, with some minor changes. Also this forum needs to be changed to the Tisas/Mac section as the mac's are the same thing. So today I picked up my Mac DC comp 4.25, ran about 100 rounds thru it pretty quick, like double tapping 3 steel c zone targets for several mags. Moved on to some smaller targets and realized it was shooting left. I put up a target and found it was about 2 inches left at 7 yards, front sight was not centered. A few hits with a punch and it centered right up. Ran some more mags double tapping the c zones and hitting some 6 inch plates between the c zone. At the store the slide was certainly herky jerky, but decided it would be better to get a few rounds thru it. I then ran some from the holster double taps on a timer, my staccato holster sticks with the Mac. But I was getting some decent times, but the holster was slowing me down badly. Ran about 150 rounds thru it, and got it pretty warm. I came home and tonight tore it down to look at it, the bottom of the slide was nice and smooth where the disconnector rubs on it. I could find no funny spots of wear at all, but still herky jerky. So I started just playing with the trigger, did not seem to be there as the pull was probably around 4.5-5 lbs. I pulled the slide off again and tried to push down on the disconnector, wow it took some force to push it down. So I stripped out the MSH and grip safety and took a look at the internals. The rear of the disconnector was a mirror polish, the center leg of the sear spring was nicely rounded so no drag there. So I grabbed a pick and pulled on the center spring leg, holy cow thats a lot of pressure. I pulled and tweaked the center leg a few times and got it down to reasonable pressure. I then very minorly tweaked the sear leg of the spring. I put it back together and functioned checked it, every thing was working properly. But OMG the slide was so much smoother, the trigger is probably down to 3.5 lbs. Not a fan of flat triggers might change it normal round med length. So if you have one of these you need to check your disconnector leg of the sear spring. I would say just that tweak made the slide movement 50% smoother, and not terrible at all, all the herky jerky is gone. I think after a few more hundred rounds I might try to get the trigger down some more. Oh I also put a holosun on it tonight, my plate is a very tight fit in the slide, like no screws and it wont fall out when shaken and turned up side down. |

Update, I put my holosun on it and took it out again today, once zeroed it was chewing one hole groups at 10 yards off hand. I started on the drills and did some double taps on steel from the holster, dot never left the window. Then I started on the 4 and 6 inch gongs at 10 yards, draw one shot on each, transitions well and hits 95% of the time. I was trying to be a little too quick on the trigger. I put it on paper at 7 yards draw and double tap all A zone hits pretty quick. I did not run the timer today as I just wanted to see how the pistol responded to the tweaks. It is mush smoother now and easier to keep the gun inline, amazing what getting rid of the herky jerky can do for it. I then walked over to the 100 yards and took 5 shots on a c zone target, missed the first 2 and the next 3 were all hits. I am up to 350 rounds thru it, both the mags that came with it and 2 staccato 20 rounds all 100 %. |
