Love them or hate them......PSA has had some great sales this summer. I picked up a threaded Mk IV 22/45 on sale and ordered some initial upgrades today, mainly a Volquartsen competition kit and a Tandemkross red dot mount. I am not a fan of the chunky aluminum pic rail it came with and wondering what some of the hive is running red dot wise on their Rugers. I'm kinda leaning towards Holosun 407/507 series but not sure of C or K models. |

LOL, I spent more on go fast goodies than the gun cost to buy. I wished it had a threaded barrel. I used it too shoot Bowlin pin shoots every month at the Gun club, so I could shoot in .22, 9mm, .40 and .45 classes. If I'm driving up there, I want as much trigger time as I can get. Each stage is under 10 seconds, or it better bet.. :) |

I did this a couple months go. MK IV 22/45. I kept the factory pic rail, but did put a bunch of Tandemkross stuff on it. I bought this one as a base gun for $350 NIB. https://ruger.com/products/markIV2245/specSheets/40190.html I can't post pictures of mine because I don't want to use a image site, but it looks pretty much the same, just with a bunch of Tandemkross parts on it. It is just as accurate from the bench as my MK III Hunter, which surprised me given the 2" shorter barrel. I'd like to get one of the Silencer Shop 22/45's. |
| I have started filing down the stock hammer hook as it has way to much material. Used a diamond stone and some feeler gauges. Filed it down with a .025 feeler gauge and it is alot better. Just hook the hammer on the edge of the feeler and slide it across the stone till it gets easy and is riding on the feeler gauge. Have to shoot it before going shallower. |
| Got the stock bits at a tolerable level now. Took a little off the front of the trigger bar sear activator which reduced the trigger reset considerably. Filed the hammer hook down to .024, reducing trigger pull and creep. The trigger now breaks closer to the frame with not much overtravel. Magazine safety was a free fix by flipping the stock spring over to push up on the magazine safety piece constantly. |

If the Mamba is in the budget I dont think you can go wrong. The trigger is already upgraded, the upper is light weight and they shoot like lasers. The competition bolt is also very nice having the extension on the back for easy cycling and mine all run smooth. |
