I'd like to find the most reliable and largest capacity available Tell me your recommendations I'm going to use this to introduce folks to shooting before graduating them to larger calibers thanks |
| Factory Glock mags. No reason to go higher capacity, especially with novices. |

I just built a 44V to be identical to my duty gun… extended slide release, Ameriglo sights and TLR-1 HL (should have been the HL-X, but try to keep a spare at work for Simunitions). Went with the 15 rounders. Very happy with them. Actually just shot today. Need to adjust the sights a little bit, but it is a good trainer. |

The new fifteen round Glock 44 mags have been selling fast. I just checked and Gun Mag Warehouse has the fifteen round Glock mags in stock and cheaper by $1 than Primary Arms who also have Glock 44 mags in stock. When introducing novices and building basic fundamentals, I strongly urge short ( 5-10) round strings between reloads. Someone can probably explain it more elegantly but here goes: You want a newbie to focus on fundamentals and doing all aspects of shooting properly ( stance grip sighting trigger control) long strings of fire get tiring and as a string gets longer fundamentals get sloppy. Even accomplished shooters will have trouble making the results of round 15 in a string as good as rounds 1-5 were. Your brain recalls what you did on shot 15 easier than shot 1, so you start wiring your brain to return to the performance seen on the last shot fired, reinforcing those techniques. For generations 22 handguns came with 10 round mags and that is still fine for most applications. |

If you're introducing people to shooting there's nothing wrong with 10 round mags. And they'll have some reloads so they can learn how to do that safely. If you want more capacity, my promags have been working just fine. But I don't think you could wrong with a Glock mag. And what captain127 said about fundementals vs. long shot strings. |
