Kinda got a wild hair and was thinking about getting a G44. Already have a .22/45. How are the G44s? Quick research shows they're about the same dimensions as a G19. |

The Glock 44 uses a hybrid slide made of aluminum and polymer and is the same size as a Gen 5 19. The Glock 44 weighs 14.64 ounces empty whereas a Glock 19 Gen 5 weighs 23.63 ounces empty. I like the Glock 44 and mine is plenty accurate. I normally shoot steel plates with my 22 LR pistols. I traded for my Glock 44 in June of 2020 and it has digested many thousands of rounds. I usually shoot cheap bulk 22 LR that I buy locally. I shoot a lot of Aquila Super Extra plated high velocity ammo. I have shot several thousand Armscor 36 grain HP plated that I’ve been buying on sale. I have five factory ten round magazines and two ProMag 18 round mags that I normally load to fifteen rounds. The only change to my Glock 44 is I installed Glock tritium night sights. My Glock 44 has been very reliable for a 22 rimfire pistol. Here is a picture of my Glock 44 where I installed the Glock Gen 5 pattern 4.1 mm front sight. The rear tritium sight is 6.1 mm and these sights shoot close to point of aim for me. New pattern Gen 5 4.1 mm Tritium front sight.  |

I bought the ten round mags from Gun Mag Warehouse and the ProMag magazines from a local Rural King. My Glock 44 trigger is a little heavier than my 19.5 but plenty good enough for training or shooting steel. I commonly shoot steel targets out to 50 yards with my Glock 44. I bought the Glock Tritium sights so my Glock 44 would have the same sights as my 19.5. If you don’t like the light weight putting a Tactical light on the Glock 44 can help. You could also add lead into the rear open area behind the mag well. The Glock 44 never bothered me because the very light weight gives the Glock 44 a decent recoil impulse so I have no trouble switching from 22 LR to 9 mm. For me the critical part of shooting is getting the trigger time. The repetition of acquiring a sight picture and squeezing the trigger, breaking the shot then repeating the process builds muscle memory. I find shooting a dedicated 22 LR AR-15 also is good practice for shooting a 5.56 in CQB drills. I primarily carry Glock pistols for defense and use AR-15’s more than other rifles. Find what works for you and enjoy what you’re doing. The only real downside to the Glock 44 is that it is not optics ready. First one ran to 8-10k rounds before I bulged the barrel with some old shitty ammo  Replaced it with a threaded one but it doesn’t fit in my safariland anymore so it doesn’t get much range time My second one is at approximately 3k and runs great I use promag 18 loaded to 15 and factory 10 round mags. Mine don’t like ammo that is too waxy it gums up the mags and causes failures to feed If you use a decent powered ammo like mini mags mine are dam near 100% I CCW a Glock 19 so it’s a great training tool for me |

Should be similar enough to help her. Supposed to be at my FFL on Tuesday. Fingers crossed. Budsgunshop took forever and a day to ship. In fairness, they do say x business days, but it seemed like they had to ship it to their shipping place and then had to ship it from there to my FFL. I suppose if I needed instant gratification, I could have spent an extra $50 and found one locally. |

I don't have one, but I use a .22 conversion slide for Glock that is an option, if you are wanting to stick with the Glock feel. Also, since it fits on the regular frame, you get the benefit of any trigger or controls upgrade you may have on the frame. I like this, because I upgrade the triggers and put extended controls on my Glock pistols. I don't know if those work on the G44.
