The gun: A G48 that I picked up in October last year, has just under 1,300 rounds through it. Gun's been cleaned twice. Last night I had this failure pictured below. This is the third time it has done this failure where an empty case seems to seemingly gets stuck just above the extractor. The ammo: I have a stockpile of Winchester 115gr white box and CCI Blazer 115 that I use for range time. I don't recall which ammo it was the previous times it occurred, but this time was with the Winchester. There is a high likelihood that is what I was shooting before as well. I have over a decade on a variety of 9mm Glock models and generations and have never seen this occur. Thoughts?  |

| Other than cleaning was ANYTHING done to the gun prior to it starting to act up? Added a new optic? Any parts changes at all? Glocks as a base gun are super reliable, but start dumping stuff into them even seemingly innocuous things and the gremlins pop - I have seen things like an extended mag release mag base plates optic mount screws even replacement back plates all turn 100% to jam city |

I used the correct screws specified by Vortex for Glock's RMSc footprint. Not to say there couldn't still be a problem with the length of the screw touching the extractor plunger. But as a rule, I keep my Glock internals factory stock. Stock OEM 10 round mags as well. I put about 500 rds down before I mounted the optic, and unfortunately, I can't remember if I had the issue then as well. Past few months have been chaotic. |

I’d clean the breach face and disassemble the slide. I’d closely inspect the extractor and extractor spring-loaded bearing. I’d use a light and a pick to ensure nothing is in the channel impinging on the spring loaded bearing. If I didn’t find any issues after thoroughly cleaning I’d reassemble the slide. I’d lube the clean pistol and inspect the magazines and clean if they are dirty. There are critical dimensions in ammunition and Winchester ammunition quality control is lousy. If all three failures occurred with Winchester I’d chalk it up to ammo. I understand you are unsure of the specific ammo but I have seen enough bad Winchester ammo that makes me suspicious. |

A few years back, winchester put out a warning about their white box 115. We had about 10k of it at work, and it caused all sorts of issues with striker fired guns. If I had to guess, its the ammo. Regardless, give the 48 a good detail cleaning, remove the extractor and get that area completely clean. |

I've seen 3 squibs while shooting 1 was reloaded ammo 2 were Win white box I try to avoid it like the plague. Hopefully it's just the Win that's the problem |

In a strange coincidence This same issue occured with my new 48 today. I was shooting either my reloads or federal 115gr I mix them and don't know for sure. I tried to grab the brass but fell on floor and mixed in Attached File |

Only had time to run 120 rounds through 4 mags, 2 10rd and 2 15rd mags, all factory Mix of federal/reloads, monarch zinc and brass cased No problems I'll keep eye on it |

Did a thorough clean and inspection last night, took apart the slide and saw no issue there. I want to make this my cool weather carry, so hopefully that issue doesn't pop up again. I didn't have the issue with my defensive ammo, so that's reassuring. |

I'll keep eye on mine and see how she does. Usually only have ammo related issues through all my Glocks so I'm hoping and praying that was the issue |

I plan on going to GSSF near me soon and I'll ask the people working/armorer what if anythign they've heard about this |

If it's backwards, it can cause malfunctions like you are experiencing. Kind of wishing I hadn't ordered a second 48 last week and just got a 19.6. I like carrying the 48 over a 19, and I actually shoot it better, but now I having second thoughts. |
