In my experience, speaking of people using their own primary pistol- The well trained & practiced are safe with or without a manual safety. The untrained and inattentive are dangerous with and without a manual safety. NY & NY+ style aggressively heavy triggers are a mechanical attempt to fix a training problem. |

True, there's are certainly systems more and less likely to be safe with but all the major accepted systems are workabl. I actually prefer a manual safety like a 1911, but only own and carry Glocks. If Glock had a 1911 style safety option I'd have bought it that way. Other safeties I find difficult to disengage / engage and non intuitive. I also actually like 1911 grip safeties. |

This, although stupidly tiny safeties like S&W put on the Shields is an abomination to all that is holy and whoever designed and approved them should be banished to the fires of Mordor. Fortunately they're pretty positive so I just leave it off, but make it a point to check it before carrying. |
