Got an email from Springfield today about the FC model. Full size grip with a compact dust cover Link currently have more magazines for the compact but I'm tempted  I do still have an unused:unfired COG that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I will say, Springfield has done a good job on their site listing the components needed to "LEGO" each configuration. I like that. it's going to be interesting to see where they go with this, slow starting but looks like they are serious Attached File ETA: photo added |

Definitely the best looking of the three-- it has an XD service feel to it (4" barrel on a full-size frame), but it's a still a duty/jacket (for me) size with the full-length grip. Now that they discontinued the manual safety version  , they definitely have the OEM "LEGO gun" ecosystem in place in a way that rivals the Sig P320 and P365-- the aftermarket just needs to catch up.

Agreed. I'd like to see different slides from the after market. Back when the Echelon was released Springfield talked about a slide design that they almost went with instead of the current one, I'd love to see them release that. The other thing that I think is missing is 3rd party magazines. ETG, Magpul, etc. For that matter, Magpul and Wilson Combat would be ones I'd look to for grip modules |

I'm a bit surprised by the lack of aftermarket slides and modules-- especially considering that the mag releases and slide completion parts are available on the Springfield store. I guess the slide parts are just spares until/unless the aftermarket slides start appearing. I'd love to see what Wilson Combat or Magpul would do in terms of an Echelon grip module. A P320 AMAG compatible module (assuming it would feed and would not have an interference with the COG) would be pretty cool. I can go either way on the aftermarket mags-- I'd be okay with a Magpul AMAG or a MecGar, but it has to be something quality. |

But maybe It is possible to order some of the spare parts for their other pistols (or at least it used to be) if you call them on the phone; but, yeah, it would be weird for them to they have, for example, the Echelon striker assembly and recoil assembly as items on their store if they're intended only as spare parts when the only way to get a spare part for the Hellcat or XD is on the phone. |

For example, if I pick up a 4.0C, I'll be able to carry it appendix more or less comfortably. With my 4.5F, it's really better if I have a jacket and carry strong side; so, buying the 4.0 FC doesn't help me there. On the other hand, if I buy a 4.0C and a couple of the magazine sleeves, I'll be able to switch two of the full-size magazines between being ready for use in the compact with the sleeves installed and for use in the full-size without the sleeves installed. The sleeve gives the ability to go from a compact to a full-size grip whereas the 4.0FC will always be the full-size grip. |

There's also 3d printed options that aren't as nice but still work. I bought a bunch to use on full sized mags that are relegated to range only mags. I'm originally from Illinois and I make the trip back once or twice a year. They passed a law with mag limits and I misunderstood it so I bought two 10 round mags so I could have a gun handy when I visit. I don't like making the long drive unarmed. It turned out it's 15 rd limit on pistol mags and 10 on rifles. So now they are dedicated dry fire mags. I also have a few of the 15 round full size mags which are dedicated practice mags as I figured the IL police would be dumb and think they were higher capacity mags than my compact 15 rounders because of that sleeve. I have 18 round and 20 round mags filled with defensive ammo for reloads and compact 15 rounds for travel. I carry with a 15 round compact in the gun to maximize my concealment. |
The 2nd is not about hunting, it never was. It was put in place for one reason and one reason only. You can't have them, we won't give them up, so get over it.

Part of the reason I have a 1911 instead of a 2011 is because it gives me something that doesn't take "high capacity magazines" just in case I want to travel through somewhere like that. |
