So from what I can find the "upgrades" on the SCS is green MRS, sealed solar charged battery, better auto brightness adjustment. Right now I can get a EPS for $280, or the SCS for $345. Is the SCS worth the extra $65, or get the EPS and more ammo to train? |

Solar does not matter to me. I am happy with my EPS Carry MRS in green. When I bought it I wanted to play with the MRS. I also wanted to try the green. I have now done that. I were doing it again I would save a few bucks and go red with just the dot. The circle reticle seemed like a good idea. However once you learn through dry fire to index and target focus, the circle is meaningless. Green verses red doesn't matter much useless you have a stigmatism. IF you do, by all means go green. I am also sending a 43X MOS slide to be milled and converted for the EPSc. After going through my second plate, I am done messing around with them. |

IMO the worth of the SCS is in the auto brightness system and is my only reason for seriously considering it. If the EPS carry or any other holosun optic worked like the scs in terms of correctly adjusting the dot brightness for the lighting condition, then I would take one with a traditional battery. I briefly tried using the eps carry auto brightness. I pulled the pistol in my unlit garage and pointed it to to the bright outdoors and the dot wasn't visible. That means I need to leave the dot on a fairly bright manual setting to account for the brightest conditions. That means reduced battery, especially since as a carry gun, the shake awake feature won't be used at all while I'm carrying it. It also means a dot that is too bright for evening conditions. The SCS on the other hand uses more light sensors and some that face forward apparently, allowing it it make a much more usable brightness setting for the condition. So in your pocket or holster, the dot will be dim, saving battery but it can adjust for sunlight, or even at night without a flashlight but adjust to the needed brightness with a flashlight instantly. I wish they would just make the eps with the scs auto adjust system. Maybe they will. But for now I'm willing to gamble on the scs carry to see if it works for me, and as good as they say. |

I was just shopping for these and ended up going with the EPS green MRS. I just like the idea of having a battery that I can change and not have to rely on an internal one/solar. The EPS also has the solar in case the battery goes dead, it'll work if it's getting light. I also wish they would update the auto system in the EPS with the SCS version. I have a feeling its going to come out, but I just bought a new pistol and wanted to get a red dot for it. Plan on direct mounting it on a 43x. The slide already has the back two posts milled off. |
