yeah yeah yeah.  keep smirking, deputy fife.    stinkin cops and their off-duty carry.

the XD will be my daily carry whenever I'm in Iowa (or one of the 14 states it's good in) starting 2 weeks from now (my class is on the 28th).  I'm legally an Iowa taxpayer/voter, so I can get my Iowa CCW.

Starting Jan. 1 2007, it'll be my daily here in NE as well.    The 230 will either be my wife's purse ccw or an ankle rig if i end up on Martin Luther King drive/avenue/boulevard in any major metropolitan area.

My usual off-duty CCW rigs include a: Kahr P9 Covert 9mm in a HBE Leather COM  "2 1/2" IWB holster and Kahr PM9 9mm in a Grandfather Oak Pocket Companion XL kydex pocket holster.  This pair gets  toted around and backed up with two seven (or one seven and one eight) round magazines, a Surefire 6P with high intensity lamp, fully charged cell phone, a couple of backup lights, a knife and other doo-dads.

If you are referring to BadSVTs leather, it looks like a Milt Sparks VMII and a Mitch Rosen mag carrier. The matching tint makes me think the holster may be a Rosen as well.

ah, agreed. I just glanced at it the first time. Then I noticed the strap over the trigger area, the alessi has a different one.

These two are my most common carry set-ups (either one or the other depending on circumstances), but I have a commander-sized 1911 that I go to and a G19 as well.  My new G30 will probably get carried often as well from here on out I think.

You were right the first time.  The holster is a VMII in cordovan, the belt is from thebeltman in cordovan with nickle hardware and the mag carrier is from mitch in mahogony.

The holster is slightly darker in person but in this pic it is exaderated.

Wow!  There are quite a few of you with little .22 autos.  I never would've expected that on a website like this.  I figured that you all would be packing shoulder fired rockets.

So what's with that?  Why just the little .22???  Is it really that you can't afford anything else?

No one?  Seriously, I'm really surprised about how many people carry a .22.  I'm curious to see why.

I wouldnt carry a .22 to save my life.  Not enough 'umph you know. However, in a pinch, any gun is better than no gun!

Just posted my pic as a joke, I go for the .40 as a minimum.

Why not.....

Knife varies (Here, CRKT Cruiser, others from CRKT, Cold Steel, Spyderco, Gerber, A.G.Russel, etc).

Primary handgun, SA 1911 Loaded (could vary, other 1911's or Glocks but this has been primary for awhile now). BUG, could also be one of above, or American Deringer M-1.

Leather, another cordovan Versa Max 2 and S-4C from Milt Sparks, DeSantis Nemesis for BUG and Mag Pal pocket mag carrier.

No flashlight today, usually Mini Mag or SureFire E1 Executive or G2 Nitrolon.

Watch varies (Marathon SAR here, others from Breitling, Seiko, CWC, O&W and others)

Pen varies (mostly vintage Parker 51's or Jotters, here Fisher AG7 Space Pen).

Omitted from pic, cell phone, belt (Wilderness Instructor or Frequent Flyer).

Why are we all including our wallets?

Yep, I've grown real tired of carrying all that crap around especially when the weather gets nice -- I don't want to be carrying around 10 pounds of gear.  I feel kind of silly.  So I'll usually dump the light, the knife, and carry a PM9 in my pocket and maybe a spare mag.

After doing it every day for seven years, I feel weird without it. The minimum I ever carry is a gun, spare mag, Surefire, and two knives. 95% of the time I also carry a back up gun with spare mag.
