DA/SA Decocker CCW Choices (Page 1 of 2)

| Looking for a DA/SA (preferably ambi) with decocker mid size for my man purse. Considering HK USP compact but $1000+. Any other choices I should be considering? |

The PX4 just works great, and for me it's really not a bad full-size to carry. Ergonomics are great and it feels great in the hand, points and shoots really good too, and comes in all three major calibers, 9mm, .40, and .45. I only learned about it from doing security, the .40 was our issued sidearm. No complaints, it's lightweight, accurate, and handles .40 well. |

P99 is the best one (IMHO) if you want to carry a double-stack. It's a bit big, the size of a Glock 19. I think they have a compact version, but it's still a double-stack, so still pretty fat. Otherwise, I'm watching this thread. would love to see something Shield or 365 sized with a DA/SA option. Personally I much prefer that trigger mode. The Sig P320 observations are kind of reinforcing a desire to go back to that as the standard. Almost all of the guns posted so far are fatties. |

This too, P99 can be had for 500, half the price of that HK and it feels better to carry. Not compromising nothing at all going with the Walther, it's a fine gun. |

| I agree, wholeheartedly. The only gun i've kept since 1994 was my P228 main west germany. Once sig moved down the street from me, they were no longer worth buying. I finally found a striker fired pistol that I actually like, which is an HK VP9 A1 K. It too was manufactured in germany and shoots like a dream. Added bonus is the Holo Sun SCS VP9 GR and a tactical light. |

Walther P99 or P99c would be excellent choices. It's basically a DA/SA striker fired plastic fantastic. The Sig P228 is an excellent choice as well. I shoot the Sig better, but it's bigger and heavier. The Beretta 92G compact is another solid choice. For HK I like my P2000, but it's bulkier compared to my Walther. Lighter than my Sig though. I also have a S&W 3913 which is a great little carry gun, but it's single stacked. The S&W Chief Special is another good one for a small DA/SA carry gun. |

| One of, if not THE best da/sa models I’ve ever owned is the Sig p220. .45acp. Its is sorta bulky though slender. Second is my p228. Chunky and sadly they tend to crack frames but shoot beautifully. For a comfortable carry the p239 is near ideal being very slim. Mine is 9mm and holds 8+1. Shoots very well. All the sigs have nice da triggers. |

| Ok, I found a great deal on a HK P30 V3 with safety and decocker. Fully ambi, 17 rnd mags for $600 shipped so I went for it. Also found a guy selling 15 rnd factory HK mags NIW for $25 each so I bought 10 of them. Range trip next weekend hopefully but I am liking the feel of this gun, have the mid size backstrap and side panels in it for now. |

CZ P07 Sig SP2022 Both are light enough for carry and can be found relatively cheap. They are thicker than a comparable sized striker fired gun though. |

CZ P01 Omega Obviously I have the S2C as well. The P01 just carries a bit smaller and the decocker is nice to have. I handled the new S2 Carry with decocker and just didn't really care for it. Attached File |

S&W DA/SA 3rd Gens. Important questions are, what is your caliber preference? ... and then size and weight? With the all-steel 3rd Gens, that last is important because full-size 45XX and 10XX guns are weighty. Even in 9mm, the full-size 5906 isn't exactly light. OTOH, a clean 9mm model 6906, like my ex-Corrections gun, is easy to carry and very accurate.  |

It would be hard to argue against the P30. IMO it’s a more comfortable pistol to carry vs the CZ P01. I have both, but honestly I don’t carry either very often anymore. I used to EDC the P30, but the P365 was a game changer since I wear tucked in dress shirts. I’m making a switch to the CC9 but the P30 would be my choice if I were going back to a duty size pistol. |

P229. I carried Glock 23 for 20 years and a 19 for about five. Last year I put an optic on my 229 and even though it's a a few ounces heavier, it is a superior pistol. Unless I'm changing the oil in my car in which case I will put the G 19 on my belt. Of course there are other things in the rotation, but those are my main ones. none of these pistols are small, so you'll need one for when your wardrobe is not conducive to concealing and medium size pistol. |
