Been carrying a 43X MOS with a 507k for a while and am looking to update a lot of my other non-MOS Glock models. The other 43X and 48 will get done for the 507k footprint, but I am not sure whether I want to cut the 17/19/22 etc slides for the 507k or just do the RMR footprint and then use Holosun 507C’s or 508T’s (both use the RMR footprint) for the majority of the fleet. I figure with the RMR cut I am always good to upgrade to an actual RMR if I want. I have mounted a 507c to a FNX-45, it is a good fit, and mounted a 508T to a G21 MOS. The width of those optics seems perfect for .45 sized slides, which does make me wonder if they won’t feel a bit oversized on say a G17 slide by comparison. I can always get a RMR footprint to 507k adapter plate, but would prefer not to use a plate if I am going to cut the slides. Anyhow just looking for opinions before I decide on what to do. Anyone running a 507K sized on a full sized pistol? Does a 507C feel overly large on a 17? Probably gonna send a batch of slides off to be milled real soon. Getting old sucks, getting a lot harder to see irons real well anymore, but it is better than the alternative I suppose…. Appreciate any thoughts on the matter! |

I think the 507C is an appropriate size for a G17. If you are OCD about looks, the 507K are EPS Carry are the same width as the G19 & G17. Remember you can go for the K-Cut with the EPS, which is fullsize. Link Attached File Attached File |

RMR footprint is king and the obvious answer to this question for several reasons. The only reason to sometimes make an exception to that rule, is on guns with thinner slides. Even then, it's often worth it to have the fatter optic on top of the skinnier gun, to get the bigger window. The RMR and 407/507 match up very well with a standard Glock slide. The optic with the bigger window is going to be more desirable for shooting. With the RMR footprint, you'll have the option of going to a 507 Comp or RMR HD. The K model footprints sometimes make sense on the P365 and Commander size 1911s for IWB carry, to keep the whole setup narrow. |

@tac556 G45 with Holosun C direct milled by Jagerwerks. Pic should have plenty of quality for you to zoom in and see the width of the dot vs the slide. Second pic was taken when I was comparing a G19 (Shadow Systems clone) and 43x. Dot is an RMR. The slide on the SS is a bit narrower than a factory 19, but it's minor. Jagerwerks currently has my 43x slide and is milling it for the 407K I've got sitting on my desk right now. So excited to finally put a dot on it. It's a lot more comfortable to carry than the 19. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Adding an extra picture of the SS 19 with the RMR. There's some slight overhang where their milling narrows it, but its never gotten my attention until I opened this thread and started looking at it. Attached File |

@tac556 Do you mind posting a pic or two of your 43X with the Holosun K on it? |

The industry seems to be standardizing around 507k/RMSc footprint for slim slide guns and RMR footprint for full sized/full width guns like the 17/19/etc. I’d go RMR cut. |

A slide with a K-Cut will also fit RMSc optics. Large format Optics are going to become more available because of the larger overall size guns in the format (1911, 2011, canik, etc). 28mm x 22.5mm 6moa Gideon Optics Judge XL RMSc |

@mudholestomper My 43X MOS, my fairly deep concealed carry method consists of a clip and kydex trigger guard cover. Not the fastest draw, but quite secure as the 507k helps secure it IWB. Carried my regular 43X in the same method before going to the MOS. Secure and well concealed is important to me, I have only needed to draw twice when I was not working. Adding a holster just adds thickness, and I went to this while trying various holsters for that size gun and never found something I liked much better. I've lost some weight and am casually shopping for more minimalist designs. Despite a ton of shooting and professional instruction, I'm an above average shooter, but just. I don't have the time or budget to shoot as much as I'd like. That said, pistol dots have made a huge difference in my shooting. I truly enjoy shooting pistols again. The amount of feedback I get from dry firing with a dot has helped me quickly troubleshoot and correct some frustrating bad habits. Can't wait to get the dot on the 43x. Pistol runs like a scalded dog, but it's been in retirement when the 19 got the RMR. |

Thanks folks for the information and pics. Pretty much confirming my original thoughts. Feel free to keep adding more info though! Really would make more sense to sell my old pistols off and buy new MOS versions (or the COA if it is available) but many of my old ones have more sentimental value than dollar value at this point, so having them milled is gonna be my route. |

Milled with direct mounting of optic to slide > Mounting plates. The only reason to use mounting plates, is to get a big optic footprint on a small gun, where you otherwise couldn't (RMR on a 1911 type of thing). MOS is aids and brings great shame to the otherwise great Glock name. They have pretty much admitted it, by coming out with the COA, which seems to be a much improved design over the MOS. |

Oh no disagreement there, plates suck and are a failure point, and I always found it strange that the most popular optic for actual serious use didn’t mount directly on a Glock. Too many options and too many footprints is one reason I held off in getting a red dot for so long on my personal carry pistol(s). Add in the fact that I had a pre-release Gen 5 G17 for T&E, and we then adopted the Gen 5 version right when it was released (before the Gen 5 MOS was released) and I never got an actual MOS Gen 5 before I retired. I did shoot Gen 4 MOS with an RMR enough before that to know we wanted to go that direction though. However there will be plenty of aftermarket support for the MOS system for quite a while going forward, so it isn’t like it is a terrible option. Much rather go MOS than cutting a slide for some of the oddball optics footprints that exist. Hence why I thought I probably wanted to stick with milling for an RMR footprint on full sized and 507k footprint on the 43X size…most likely to still be relevant down the road (hopefully). |

Absolute worst case... You have to get an adapter plate, or re-cut something down the road. I agree that the current most popular options, even if they get passed by something better, will be workable for a long time. |

I run 407k on a G48 for carry and other then my bad habbit of 1911 thumb hitting the plus-minus buttons on occasions I couldn’t be happier I run a 507c on my G45 and the size difference being bigger makes shooting much easier, but its not a carry gun presay I will say my 507c is green dot and i find that green comes up in day light much better for eyes and i dont have to run the dot as bright as i would with a red dot,and green just stands out on every day backgrounds All that said,,noway do i want the “C” size on my slimline Glock or for IWB carry just to much over hang “K” cut is almost flush on the G48 slide And out of 3 full time carry guns only 2 are dots i do find it easier to carry with irons and at defence distance I honestly dont feel undergunned or limited If im walking my property or boondocking round the dot is handier but in the wilds of the public areana i go with irons 9 outta 10 times Basicly ya cant play golf with one club,,,gotta have options in the safe |

Devil's advocate: RMSC optics don't make the slide wider. It also lets you use larger (4mm) and longer screws compared to the RMR. They also sit a bit lower. RMR screws on the right side need to be shortened most of the time. RMR as an optic is supposed to be more durable. But I tried out a Vortex CCW on a RXM and I don't hate it.. |
