I'm thinking of a red dot on my CDS9. My question is, do you leave it on all the time or just when you need it which sounds bad "when seconds count". Joe |

CC with a RDS isn't something I really think about anymore, it's just my normal carry method. I keep the dots on all the time on everything, rifle or pistol (excluding a couple of rifle safe queens). Holosun, Aimpoint, or Trijicon they all stay on. I've had exactly one battery ever fail within the 12months that I use the same battery. It was a Sig optic. Change batteries every year and keep them on all the time. |

I shoot often with the dot off, using the BUIS, just to remain accustomed in case of any failure. |

Try an OSIGHT. They get the closed emitter, long battery life shake awake, auto brightness takes a beating….in addition, train & have a buis. Closed emitter keeps the shit catcher area clear. IP7 keeps dust and water from ruining your day because sometimes you five in with your gun still on…ask me how I know! FML! BUIS….cause I can fuck things up. Also, get a 22 for when you make a bad rds decision! |
I will find out how much fun it is to carry with a RDS on a handgun as soon as USPS finds the holster they lost in Phoenix...
Plus...I need a lot more trigger time behind this one to get with the program - 50 years of "sight alignment" does NOT turn off overnight. |
