I have a Miata that I love to take on long enthusiastic drives through the mountain roads. A lot of lateral Gs, and I have very tight fitting Recaro seats, so my standard 4 o'clock carry isn't optimal. Plus it's also very difficult to draw from IWB while seated, possible, but not quickly, especially with a seat belt. I do not want any off-body carry. I want the gun on me if I have to get out. Plus it's a convertible and I mostly drive with the top down. I drive it mostly in the summer, t-shirt and shorts weather. So I want something concealable under a t-shirt. A shoulder holster isn't going to work. I've tried AIWB and just don't like it. I can't make it comfortable. I do have a CrossBreed modular belly band, but it can get hot in the summer. So I'm thinking cross draw would be the most comfortable and the most accessible while seated. This would be for a P365 (the smallest one, though I also have an XL). I'd like a holster that is compact and thin. Leather would be preferred for comfort. Any ideas for a good holster? Am I missing any alternative methods? |

Ya know, I used to think about that. Like how would I draw in a car with a seatbelt and everything. I started carrying AIWB a while ago, which obviously makes it easier. But also. When I really thought about it… There’s VERY few scenarios I could come up with that would involve me drawing my pistol instead of using the 3000+ lb weapon I’m driving. |

But still, better to have options and not need them, rather than need it and not have it. I also still need an option for carrying the pistol when I get out of the car, (get gas, stop for a snack, photograph the scenery, take a walk along a river to stretch my legs, etc). I could just pocket carry the P365, but then I really can't get to it while sitting. |
| Mount a retention holster in an accessible spot in the car. When you get in, move your pistol from the belt holster to the car holster, then back again when you get out. I actually keep a handgun permanently mounted in my vehicle this way, but it's understandable that many would not feel OK with doing this if they park in sketchy areas. |

That is why I got a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster. When I'm on a long car ride my MK25 is right under my elbow. I don't really like it flopping around when I'm walking quickly or jogging somewhere, but for sitting in a car nothing beats it. In the summertime an unbuttoned, oversized Hawaiian shirt provides enough concealment to go to the gas station without anyone really noticing. |

Andrews Leather Carjacker holster is what you want. https://samuel-andrews-crh7.squarespace.com/traditional-leather#/western-rigs-belts-scabbards-paddles-misc-1/ Gotta give him a call to order. Old school. |

Stuff happens sometimes and gets you separated from your gun with off body carry. I was in a car accident one time and my gun was in the glove box (because I just came from work where I couldn't carry and had to leave it in the car). With all the excitement I forgot about the gun until they started to carry the car away on a flatbed. I quickly told a cop there was a loaded gun in the car and he stopped the truck and retrieved the gun for me. It could have been a lot worse. |

Alien Gear Shape Shifter setup has a seat mount for the OWB shell that works pretty well. It essentially sits between your legs. I'll be damned if I can find it on their site tho. |

Old school. +1, I have two of his Carjacker holsters one for 1911's the other for Sig P pistols. You can't do better for comfortable seated long trips. |
America is at that awkward stage, it’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards....Claire Wolfe

Old school. This is the answer. Easy on/off for transition back to 4 o'clock IWB. |

| fanny pack. For real. You can spin it to a comfy position and then spin it to 4 o clock when you get out. Could even wear across your chest if it's more comfy. I've done an X with keys and a phone for hiking with my kids and nobody bats an eye |

There's a bunch of nice, small fanny packs out there and tons of people are wearing them nowadays.

An option: https://www.concealedcarryoutlet.com/holster-shirt.html Wear a button up or snap closed shirt. With the button up you can leave one button undone. Make sure your watch is on the non-draw hand so it won't snag. A shirt with pockets is preferrable, you can toss something in the pocket on the side with it to break up the outline. Try your normal shirt size and a shirt one size up. Shirts that cling are obviously less than ideal. Get a good hard holster. I don't trust the material of the carry shirt to 100% keep stuff off the trigger. Find where you want it positioned in the pocket of the undershirt with the gun in it, and than if necessary sew the pocket of the carry shirt to fit your holster exactly so it won't move and you can single hand draw. The undershirts that put a thin layer of foam and material on both sides of the gun are nice. https://www.vedderholsters.com/pocket-locker-holster/ ^^^^With the curve and the thumb tab. Consider adding some sort of no slip tape to the outside of the holster so it "grabs" the pocket for more positive retention of the holster. You can snag it cheap off the shelf in hardware stores. Practice your draw so you don't shoot yourself or whoever's next to you if you have to pull it while adrenalized and scared silly. A regular shoulder belt should not stop you from getting a clean draw. |

Most everyone Ive seen end up pulling the gun across to their strong side and muzzling their belly |

Originally Posted By NvrBrdWes: Most everyone Ive seen end up pulling the gun across to their strong side and muzzling their belly Interesting. I haven't used a crossdraw much. I've only carried that way with a few times with j-frame, so I don't practice drawing from it that much. I ordered a Desantis Criss Cross for my P365 so I'll have to pay attention to that during practice draws. While sitting, I could see possibly crossing a thigh too, if one isn't careful Either way this is a training issue. But in a car, it would most likely just be pull out of the holster and up to the driver side window. The left arm would be the only thing that could get in the way. However, passenger side window is a possibility too. I'd have to go over the steering wheel (no room under even if I wanted to), so muzzling the thigh or belly probably would not happen. One thing I've found helps with new draw techniques is stick a laser bore sight cartridge in the gun . Then practice drawing and watch to see what the laser cuts across. Drawing in front of a full body mirror can be helpful too, but I can't fit one in my car. |
