I guess we should have a thread for work or builds done by Justin at Cahill & Sons. @11boomboom is the first I believe on here to post about using Justin for a build. It was great timing as my go to smith closed his books to focus on his own line of pistols and I had ideas. @dirtdivision has a gun out and a wild side project @jafrush I believe has one on the way @Iwantfullauto has a build in progress If you have had work / build done or are having work done - tell us about it. |

So mf-ing in. He does great work. My first project with him is still ongoing. Sadly, he suffered a major tragedy last year with the sudden passing of his wife and rearranging his whole life. He's back at it, harder than ever. Project 1: Springfield Lightweight Operator Attached File After about 9k rounds and a few years as EDC, it needed a refresh. So I sent it in to Justin last April to get all gussied up. 1. Bob Marvel cut 2. Checker front strap 30 LPI 3. Blend magwell (it's a Wilson Bulletproof) 4. 3.5# break trigger job 5. Fit new .201 EGW slide stop 6. Fit new barrel bushing 7. Fit new oversize ejector 8. Blend and serrate rear of slide 9. Refinish frame in black anodizing 10. Refinish slide in black DLC Progress photos Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Currently, slide is out being refinished in DLC and should be ban soon. Frame was supposed to go to the anodizer this week. My next project is my mini version for the same upgrades after I see how much my CETME build is going to cost. Attached File |

What had me jump into having him do the work was his pricing and lead times are fast. The guinea pig was my buddy with a Mil-spec that he had a pseudo-MEUSOC build done on by Justin in late 2024. It came out awesome. He had found out about Justin on 1911addicts. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Another one of my friends had Justin work on his Prodigy, too. Mine is going to be a 9mm commander all steel. Serrated flat top. Ball mill cuts. Highpower carry cuts. Fine rear cocking serrations. Countersunk takedown pin. Undercut trigger guard. Front strap checkering. Magwell, probably Edd Brown hard-core magwell. It will probably be blued, matt with polished flats, maybe DLC, not sure yet... We are either doing Harrison or Cylinder and Slide internals. Gold front sight, probably some kind of bone grips, like Buffalo or giraffe. He ordered a JEM frame and slide. He gets a variance from them with his name and serial number range on them. He is was still on a pretty low number range when my order was placed. James |

I currently have my 4.25 prodigy with Justin at the moment. I already had the top end milled and ported by North Sea machine. Justin is fitting a miller precision grip, Harrison ring hammer, flat trigger, springs, slide stop and other accoutrements. I’m really excited I’ve also asked him to make me a special thingy that I’m not at liberty to discuss at the moment. |

Specs on the LW Commander build that's been commissioned: JEM LW Frame, 25lpi checkering - JEM Commander Slide, vertical serrations front/rear cut in the tight Colt format, serrate rear of slide - Carry bevel / de-horn - JEM beavertail - 25lpi MSH - Kart 9mm barrel, thick flange bushing - Harrison: ignition, ring hammer, medium solid trigger, TAC safety - Novak green ring tritium front / Harrison black U notch rear - Black T on everything |

I think it was around $700 if I remember correctly. There was a Marvel cut and all the guts were swapped out and fitted. Maybe more. Turnaround was about 3 months. | I ordered a custom set of thin profile camel bone magwell cut grips for mine from LS Grips. Do yall think I should have a mag release scoop or super scoop done on them? I don't know if it would look right on bone. Most of my other 1911 grips are G10 thin profile with a super scoop. |
