I bought a SIG P49 (Swiss military issue P210) on Basspro.com in their Pre owned firearms section. Got the email last night that it had arrived at my local Bass Pro shop, so this morning I went down and picked it up. Looks great except for an idiot from the slide lock and the typical unavoidable safety lever scratch. The date on the inside of the grip panels puts it at October 1952. Attached File Attached File It was apparently imported into Germany and proofed there in 2019 based on the proof marks on the right side of the trigger guard. US import marking on the bottom of the grip along the mag well opening are "RAI Minot, ND". I am not familiar with RAI. Anyone know who that is? Attached File Got it home and put a set of SIG factory wood grips on it that I picked up at a gun show in February for about $50. I like the look, but might keep it stock. Or find a better set of grips. Haven't decided. Attached File Attached File Now I need to find some spare mags. That sounds like it might get expensive. |

You might want to check your magnifying glass - it's TAI, not RAI.  TAI in Minot is The Attic Imports. They have some nice stuff listed on their GunBroker page, and they do very discreet import markings. https://www.gunbroker.com/All/search?Sort=13&;IncludeSellers=1346244 |

When I was in Germany from 2000-2009 and I bought my P210-6, I was scouring every gun shop and gun show for P210 magazines I had accumulated a few along with a 22 conversion kit and a couple extra mags for that. Back in January at the Show of Shows in Louisville I picked up a set of factory P210 wood grips and a P210 holster that looks brand new completely unissued for $100 total. The grips are the set I have on this P49 I just bought but I sold the holster to a friend for $50. He wanted it for his P210. Ended up that his modern P210 Target wouldn’t fit in the flap holster because of the beaver tail. Today when he saw my P49 he let me get the holster back for the same $50. Here it is with some other Swiss goodies. Yeah I’m a Swiss nerd. Attached File |
