I ordered today a NIB APX from Aim Surplus. Comes with owners manual (Portuguese), 2-17rd magazines, 3 factory backstraps & box. Unissued Brazilian Police. For $349 I said why not. I only own one Beretta, Model 76 .22LR. Very familiar with M9/92 since I'm retired military, but they never interested me. No plans on carrying this APX, but will probably be a front door greeter need be "IF" it's as reliable as all the reviews I've read have stated. Pictures once it arrives. Amazing on how many polymer choices we have these days. I've accumulated 5 Glocks the last 13 years and thought I'd never buy another polymer striker fired pistol. Must be getting bored in my old age. Good to hear your pleased with your A1. Biggest complaint I've read concerning the standard APX is no optic cut out and slide serrations are not optimal. Plus A1 trigger is better refined. Thanks for the feedback!

New Beretta APX arrived today for pick-up (along with extra 4 new Beretta 17rd magazines I ordered from Aim Surplus). Very pleased to say the least. Everything was in the box as Aim Surplus said would be in their video I posted. Cleaned pistol and the 2 17rd magazines that came with it. I had ZERO issues disassembling. Some videos users have said the right side button that you push then lower lever is stiff or needs a tool to push it in. Mine was fairly easy. I left the Medium backstrap on it since it felt fine in my hand. That's about it until I get a range report in. Should be this weekend. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Yesterday I ordered from Beretta the no finger groove frame for $24.99 in olive drab. I can't get over the low price they offered. The finger grooves never really bothered me (and still don't) on 3 of my Glock pistols. And the 2 Gen 5's that don't have the finger groove I really like. So might as well experiment with a frame swap out. And it's very simple procedure. Finally made it to range this morning. Approximately 250rds of assorted 9mm ammo & 6-17rd Beretta APX magazines. It fed everything without a hiccup. 115gr, 124gr Ball plus 124gr Federal Hydra-Shok & Federal Tactical 147gr +P JHP. Recoil was more of push than a muzzle flip to me. I really like the 3 dot white sights and the front is very large which I like. I was shooting a little left but no big deal since today was first time out and I was more concentrated on reliability which was 100%. Fun morning on paper and steel plates as well. Likes: Lightweight, felt like pistol was sitting low in my hand and not top heavy, nice 3 white dot sight picture, recoil was more of push than rise for quick acquisition follow up shots, slide locked to rear on empty mags, mags dropped freely as well when empty, brass ejection was not erratic and easy to locate, no malfunctions. Easy disassembly for cleaning. Dislikes: Trigger was spongy at first but smoothed out some what, trigger is long, and trigger reset is long as well, didn't care for grip feel at first but that was "my fault" for not changing out Medium grip for the Large which felt SO MUCH BETTER IN MY HAND after I cleaned it. So I can't blame pistol for that. And magazines get a little difficult to load after 14rds and I needed to use a magazine loader. Overall I'm very pleased with this Beretta APX. The trigger is not the best, but it's not a bullseye gun either. The trigger did feel a little better to me after I removed the modular trigger assembly out for a good cleaning. Time will tell. Again, my first time out with it. And I look forward to shooting better with the Large grip insert. I'll have to take a Glock 19 next time as well for a better comparison. I guess what surprised me the most was that the magazine release assembly and back straps with retainer clip was also included. To make it complete just switch out the old frame modular trigger assembly & disassembly take down lever and I have a complete new lower frame. I should of paid better attention to the description since I was prepared to buy these parts which would of far exceeded the $24.99. I'm impressed so far with Beretta. Attached File |

My biggest complaint was the trigger, which weighed in at 8 pounds +., so I decided to take mine apart and see what I could do to lighten it. The biggest culprit was the Brazilian contract striker safety block spring which alone adds 3 pounds to the trigger pull. It is unique for the contract guns and requested to prevent ADs, which seems to be common in Brazil. The only replacement springs are the normal, lighter ones, so I got one from MGW, and also polished the sear, trigger bar, replacement safety block, and straightened the legs on a replacement trigger return spring. Mine now pulls a reliable - and smooth - 5-5.5 pounds. I did a writeup on how to do all this, but it seems to have been pushed out of view since it was last year's post. |

| I bought one last summer. I thought the trigger was ok for a duty striker fire trigger. I found the the recoil impulse was very smooth and soft. Sights were easy for my eyes to pick up. I also like the grip, fits my hand nicely. My only gripe is the combat style hold of covering what I want to hit, I prefer a center hold. So almost always automatically go to the so I have a tendency to shoot mine low. |

Ok, here you go: Step 1: Press the firing pin block (at the end of the pointy awl) and slide the firing pin (at the end of the drift punch) forward to release some of the spring tension. Hold the firing pin forward.  Step 2: The rear part of the firing pin is cup shaped to fit inside a bowl in the firing pin retainer block, so you have to hold the firing pin forward and keep it there. I made this simple tool by bending a small piece of sheet steel into an "L". While holding the firing pin forward, I slide the tool between the back of the pin and the retainer block.   Step 3: The next step is to remove the rear cover. You'll need to simultaneously push the extractor pin forward (drift punch), while sliding the rear cover up (angled awl). The extractor pin spring is STIFF.  Step 4: Slide out the firing pin assembly. Press the firing pin block slightly to allow the pin and spring to come out of the slide. Take note of the groove position (pointed out below). In this pic, you can also see the dome at the back of the firing pin and the bowl into which it fits in the rear cover.  Step 5: Remove the extractor pin and spring. Note the position of the tab because this is how it must be positioned for reassembly. Keep in mind the pin WILL NOT be flush with the back of the slide upon reassembly.   Step 6: Remove the striker block. Note the block has a short ramp (front) and a long ramp (rear). Remember that for reassembly. Anyway, the block should lift right out and the infamous block spring will be right below it.   Here's a comparison of the Beretta OEM spring (L) and the Brazilian contract spring (R). The Brazilian spring is what you want to replace and is alone responsible for several pounds of extra trigger pull.  Here's the replacement striker block from MGW that I polished so it would slide smoothly in its channel.  Step 7: To reassemble, reinstall the polished striker block with the new striker block spring - remember, short ramp fwd, long ramp to the rear. Press the striker block slightly to slide the extractor spring and pin. Be sure to position the pin correctly.  Step 8: Reinsert the firing pin. Again, you will have to slightly press the striker block down to get the firing pin to slide fully forward. Step 9: Position the rear cover in its grooves and push the firing pin in a little, just enough to slide the cover down a bit.  Step 10: With a drift punch, push the extractor pin forward while pushing the rear cover down. The firing pin cup will click into the cover bowl. Remember, unlike some pistols, the back of the extractor pin will not be flush with the rear cover, so don't panic if you don't see it. Take a flashlight and look in the rear cover to verify the extractor pin is positioned correctly. There are some other things I did to my APX (the following pics are courtesy of MGW): 1. I straightened the legs out slightly on a replacement trigger spring.  2. Polished the trigger bar anywhere it made contact with the grip frame or serial numbered module.  3. Polished what I could of the striker block lever,  and the cocking lever.  |

Today I finally took 15 minutes out of my life and switched the original Black finger groove frame to my new Beretta APX OD Green no finger groove frame. Not a bad deal from Beretta @ $24.99 plus shipping/tax. I used the Black large grip insert for a little bling factor I suppose. Honestly I like the feel "better" without the finger grooves. It never bothered me with my Gen 3 & 4 Glocks. Go figure? I really like this pistol other than it's large/wide slide. But it's very lightweight. Still haven't decided what role it will play in my pistol corral. Attached File |

For sometime now I've been considering a decent holster for my new to me APX. Honestly, didn't find anything I really wanted. Amazingly I went to Beretta's website and discovered this Made in Italy OWB kydex RDO holster by Beretta. Only a couple research hits which were "ok" feedback wise. I said why not and ordered it last week. I commend Beretta on their fast shipping. Pistol fit holster nicely. I did tweak the 2 tension screws some for a fit that satisfied me. Funny, you can tell the package has been in storage for quite a few years. But holster was new and unused. Beretta discontinued the APX for civilian sales in 2020 I believe? Looking forward to carrying this APX starting late this fall early winter months this year.
