| I was looking for one. Then all of sudden I can't find one. I am trying to figure out of the series 70 1911 classic in SS is a limited production run that they do in batches instead of a standard production run. |

I don’t think they’re limited in numbers. Colt makes everything in batches. So there will be 100’s of commanders around for a while then they go scarce. Then govt models will be everywhere then they go scarce. Competition models everywhere then gone. It’s been a pattern since CZ took the helm. It used to be you couldn’t find a Colt 1911 new anywhere, then they took over and 1911’s and Pythons were EVERYWHERE! I’m betting we’ll see them again soon. The classics models. The guys on the Colt forum call and ask them, the Colt employee tells them what’s currently being produced but doesn’t know what comes next. Kind of a surprise I guess! |

The “Classic” is just a rebadged “1991” with the S80 parts taken out. Colt will keep building them, as they are a pretty reliable seller but I think right now they’re focused on filling contracts for carbines and back orders for revolvers. They likely don’t have the floor space or man power to make every product line at once. |
