I have a half dozen TK Custom moonclips for my SW 627 that somehow got slightly bent just from light range use and no longer work causing the loaded clip to jam about 1/2" shy of seating in the cylinder. Is there a way to fix them? A guide how to bend them back? A tool? Not jazzed that they cost $7-8 each and only lasted 2-3 uses even using the TK Custom loading and unloading tool.

Any chance on a pic? Did the custom manufacturer have an explanation or recommendation? Any chance on if you know what they’re made of? In my limited experience, moonclips (like parts of stripper clips or M1 clips) are usually some flavor of spring steel, like 1095. So, bending will be temporary unless they’re heat treated properly. Unless they were abused, my first guess is that they not have been properly heat treated by the manufacturer, hence asking the manufacturer. They may outsource or get them from China & are unaware of the heat treatment issue. ETA: or, they Amazon-d with mark up & they’re what was once called “pot metal” or Zamak. |

The link to the site isn’t custom pistol smithing as much as it’s the equivalent garish Hollywood “cosmetic surgery” for revolvers, so I’m not surprised there’s no reply to poor QC. |

Ive had bad luck with moonclips myself I had a 7 shot 586 that was cut. The moonclips in that thing were fragile. I would pocket carry the reloads. Over time they would inevitably develop a bend which would prevent reliable ignition of some rounds in the moonclip. I also have a 5 shot 640 that is cut. I had better luck with that one. But same thing over time a bend developed that isnt easily detectable. 1 round would not fire in the clip. Maybe the 6 shot guns are more robust but I have had just enough bad luck that I wont use them This is before running into the issues associated with 38/357 brass being all over the dang place in spec with regard to the cut for the clip. One of them can ruin a clip in short order installing if not careful Feel like some of it is user induced from pocket carry on my experiences Once bent you may as well toss |

TK Custom used to have a moon clip saver tool to straighten out damaged moon clips. Speed beez is nice but the outer sping makes it finicky with grips. 5star is pretty but i dislike the knob version.
