I didn't want to confuse the old thread. It seems Lipsey's now has an all-black version of the LCR in .32 H&R Mag with Green Hi-viz front. I found one by accident and ordered one. It showed-up today and my FFL told me he had some coming in. I've found these as cheap as $388 from on-line drop shippers. Which is a $100+ cheaper than the original Burnt Bronze offering from last year. For me, the benefit of these over the .327 Fed Mag is weight. They're a few oz. lighter (13.9 oz vs 17 oz). I don't like a heavy gun in my pocket if I pocket carry. You also have the option to regulate your recoil tolerance. I've got the 13.5 oz. .38 Spl +P version, and it's just not fun to shoot unless I increase the grip size (I have large hands). These .32 H&R's give you the option of shooting .32 S&W short or long if you want less recoil which is great for kids, wife, arthritis, etc. And should help with recoil control & hit probability in these light guns. An extra round is always nice too. Lipsey's Exclusive Ruger LCR 32 H&R Mag Here's some LCR weights: Empty .38 Spl - 13.5 oz .32 H&R - 13.9 oz 9mm - 17.5 oz Loaded .38 Spl with Hornady CD 110 gr. +P - 15.7 oz .32 H&R with Hornady CD 80 gr. - 15.8 oz 9mm with Fed. 124 gr. +P - 19.7 oz Attached File |

Been experimenting with the various 32 calibers lately. I have a three inch Smith 30 in 32 Long and a Taurus in 327 Fed. 32 Long is very pleasant. 32 H&R is not bad at all. 327 Fed is a little snappy. Not 38 plus p in an airweight snappy but close. I'm thinking of concentrating on the 32 H&R. Maybe get some Buffalo Bore 32 Long. |

You may want to try some of this stuff from Lost River Ammo. .32 H&R Magnum 100 Grain Poly Coat Full Wadcutter (50 RDS) This is a tailor made round, designed for low recoil, for those who want to use it in their compact revolvers such as the S&W J Frame (to include the Lipsey's Ultimate Carry J Frame), Ruger LCRs, etc. Recoil does not seem much more than a .22 Magnum. Very easy to shoot. Velocity as tested: 4" Ruger GP100: 850 FPS. 1 & 7/8ths" Ruger LCR: 780 FPS. S&W Ultimate Carry 632: 794 FPS. |

My arthritic hands are pushing me to lighter recoiling calibers. |
| This is interesting. It's good to see some more investment into the caliber. I'd love if Ruger would do a SP101 6 or 7 shot 2.25" barreled 32 H&R Mag with the bobbed hammer. Or even a 3" without the full underlug. And blued. |
I can’t stand it to think my life is going so fast and I’m not really living it.

I shot this today. Mostly .32 S&W Long but even shooting Hornady Critical Defense .32 H&R Mag out of it, the recoil was nothing. It felt less than when shooting my reloads out of my .38 Spl LCR that travel around 625 fps. 100% reliable and accurate at 7 yards. Attached File |

The .32 S&W Long can be loaded to pretty respectable velocities with cast IN A STRONGER MODERN DESIGNED GUN. My .32 S&W Long is a S&W 31-1 4” J frame. The gun is strong enough to ream the chambers to .32 H&R but I would not go that far with mine. Mine was toward the tail end of that model and it was with modern steels, hardening etc. I think the I frame flat latch guns were of a softer steel and not to be loaded all that hot and iirc the cylinders are either too short for an H&R conversion or not heat treated for that pressure., whatever the reason, I frames are not to be converted. Anyways I loaded some Longs with older book loads with my cast 95-98 SWC and they were not as slow as the book said they would be. They were in book .32 H&R turf velocities. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

My local gun shop had one in the display case when I stopped in today for $435. So that might be the street price. Although his prices are usually better than most retailers. And for some reason, mine doesn't fit a Kydex holster I have that fits my .38 and 9mm LCR. Not sure why? So, you may want to verify when ordering a holster if picking one of these up. |

I actually took off my VZ grips on my original UC gun due to the weight. Heading over to the website, it looks like they have both versions. The new rubber looking grip guns are $100 cheaper. And the versions without the rear sight vs. gutter rear sight are only a $10 difference. Seems like they have something for everyone right now. But if you can get use to the looks and longer trigger pull feel of the LCR, it's still a better deal. This grip looks pretty ugly but might work great if you have larger hands but still want a boot style grip. This is similar to the old Taurus grips sans, the high horn back. ![]() Taurus grip on my 432. Attached File |
| Anyone shot/ owned both this and the 432 UC? Was reading about some quality issues with S&W and it’s a little steeper in price to roll the dice. Thinking about getting either for my first revolver as something for ultra deep carry, as it’s the only thing I’m missing in the safe |

I'm more of a S&W guy, only because I've got more years on them. The Ruger's are nice, but the trigger return feels a little longer and takes getting used to. The Ruger is also lighter and cheaper. But you need to go handle both and see which you prefer. Both companies will take care of you if you have issues. |

You’re looking at about $1.00 a shot for factory .32 revolver cartridges. That’s what’s held me back. Knowing I’d end up immediately spending $500 on ammo to find what loads shoot the best. Then another $800 to buy a supply of whatever it prefers |

He was out of other J Frames but I did fondle the LCR in 38 and it felt pretty good. Of course I know zip about revolvers so no comments really on the trigger to compare anything to Originally Posted By StevenH: Do you reload? Had no idea it was so pricey to shoot If you order on line, .32 S&W Long is around $26 for a box of 50. SD ammo is more. I haven’t noticed any dramatic shifts in impact with S&W Long vs. 32 H&R Mag at 7-10 yards. |
