| So I was pondering how to build an open gun for USPSA and I can't find any info on someone using 9mm Major in a USP. I know it doesn't work for Glocks, and beats the gun apart. Anyone hear of this being done? |

I think you want a good fully supported chamber and appropriate recoil spring. I don't think I've seen a HK but I'm sure someone has done it. |

Is the reason you are looking into this just because you have the gun already? Do you have an optics solution? If you were one of my friends asking me if this was a good idea I'd say no. You end up with a non ideal setup. |

| I've seen several Glocks used in open so if that's the way you want to go I'd do that. Do a search on Brian Enos if you can't find any info here. |

As a reminder some 147gr +p ammo qualifies as 9major power factor. The USP series of guns is a damned tank and handles it without an issue. All of my USP 9 mags are loaded with 9Major power factor ammo. |

| back in the USP hay day there was an asian guy at my local range who always had 2-3 bad ass HK handguns. then one day I saw he had glocks. asked him whats up HK is the shit. he said he was tired of rebuilding them with expensive parts every time he wore one out. If glocks wont handle it I doubt a USP will either. |

It’s like using a Chevrolet 5500 truck to tow a single Jetski. There is one specific USP owned by an ammo manufacturer that had a documented 300,000 rounds through it. Even HK put the spring replacement intervals at a longer intervals. Interestingly. Replacing springs is even easy. On a regular USP no tools are required unless you really want to take the whole guide rod apart. |
