I just held one of the MAC 9 DS-D COMP the other day and it seems promising. I haven't shot it yet but it checks a lot of boxes and the price is not bad. Attached File |

Had to take a fair amount off the sides of the hood, just a little off the end. Lower lugs were close enough out of the box to go 98% into battery, a little hand fitting got me the rest of the way there. As it stands now, it needs a #5 link, which is probably going to be too long for perfect timing, but it's close enough that it may work OK. Some photos:     |

My last trip out with my Prodigy I brought 50 rounds of SAR 124-grain nato and 200 rounds of Winchester white box 115-grain. (1200 rounds through my Prodigy now) The SAR ammo was running into light primer strikes while the white box was 100% functional. I'm using a 19# hammer spring and 13# recoil spring in my Prodigy with a Red Dirt flat trigger. I'm wondering if it's a hammer spring thing or an ammo thing. |

I have experienced light strikes with my Prodigy. I am diagnosing now. I plan on pulling my hammer and polishing the sides a bit. I think the Cerakote is slowing the hammer fall. I cleaned my firing pin channel today after a range trip. It was gunky and I doubt that came from shooting. It looks like fine sand blasting media. The pin channel feels rough. The primer dents are not what I would expect from a hammer gun. I haven’t had failures with WWB or Agula (sp) but I have had issues with Remington primers I use for reloading. I have had 100% success feeding it my cast bullets since I started seating the .010 longer and they’re perfect now. |

I believe Springfield uses small diameter pins. Also check your hammer for interference with the slide when you let it down by hand. I’ve seen one Prodigy where someone had installed an EGW hammer but it was dragging on the side of the slide notch and extractor which was causing several weird problems. |

I will check my pin diameter in the AM and order one. Drinking bourbon now. It would not be wise. ?? |

I was thinking of maybe something with the firing pin or firing pin spring(not my first Springfield rodeo). My 19# hammer springs normally work in my other Springfields. |

I have a Staccato C2 and a 5" Platypus. I like both. The Prodigy is much cheaper than the Staccato but keeps the modularity of the 2011 platform. The Platypus is cool but lacks the changeability. If you don't mind mixing breeds you could get a Tisas 4.25" and then put a Prodigy Grip Module on it. I did not care for the Factory Tisas Grip. |

I have a Staccato C2, P, and had a springfield prodigy. The prodigy was a GREAT gun. Mine ran 100% reliably and was the gun i used whenever i got to participate in Pistol games. Soft and flat shooting, good return from recoil. Was heavy which is why i never carried it for CCW, That is what the C2 is for. That said. I had a buddy make a good deal on a staccato P and ended up selling the prodigy to put towards the P. Only have one range session with the P, but its just a hair smoother and more refined than the Prodigy. dont regret my decision. edit: no experience with the platypus and i'm just not super interested in single stack 9mm 1911's. (or single stacks in general) |
