More specifically, how the heck do you take out an ambi thumb safety??? The gun is a Springfield TRP Operator and the right hand side has the little leg that fits up under the right grip. I know how to remove the GI thumb safety but for the life of me l can not get the right angle or what to get the safety to even start to budge. I've tried wiggling the left side, no joy. Concentrate on the right side, same thing, no go. Is there a special rub your belly-pat your head-hold your tongue just right trick to these things? To make matters worse l must have knocked the the spring leg off the disconnector or something. Cause now the hammer won't drop. Or it'll follow the slide. Never know which. Worked just fine before I started this project. Thanks. |

Hey, I really don’t know if this is proper, cause it was a bit of a fight. Left first. On my springer prodigy, I had to get the safety in the middle of the detent. Between safe and fire, wiggle and pull. Then the other side can be rotated out, or in your case I think the R side grip panel can be removed. The real fight was putting them back in. I should have really bought a new safety when I had mine apart to put the EGW Hammer/sear/disco in. You will do better if the frame is clamped in a vise or similar. |

Thanks. I haven't seen that vid. Will watch it when l get home. All l wanted to do was put a short trigger in this thing this weekend. Why does it have to be so complicated?

Wait till you go to reassemble lol. I definitely don’t do it enough to know the tricks. There is one I remember about the sear spring, once it is properly in place, use a rubber band on the grip safe to hold it. Do some YouTube tonight. Watch out for the plunger detent launching! |

And just like that l got it out! Thanks for the vid, cane out just like l thought it should. And the tip on the vise. That was exactly what l needed. Had to buy one, $90 at Lowe's. Had to drill out one of the mounting holes to 3/8" to mount it with the existing hardware on my bench. But now l have a vice again. My normal gunsmithing technique is put a stupid movie on the TV and hit the floor ala Paki-made style, and do what l need. I just needed a third, steady hand this time.  We should meet up at Cameo sometime. I still haven't been there. |

Copy that G! Cameo is just a supersized RSC. I miss that place. I hit cameo a lot, lemme know. I was just there a couple days ago proving out the new blaster, 22/45 lite. Needed a threaded muzzle for my first can. Attached File |

CCI Quiet is bb gun quiet but won't cycle the gun. Gave my 22/45 Lite to my nephew last summer when it looked like threaded muzzles were going to be verboten. Finished to gun just as The Big Red One was infiltrateing the asylum.  The sear spring was giving me way more trouble than it should have.
