These are LE restricted purchase models. It isn't uncommon for the LE guns to be from the same run as a contract, hence the Mil serial numbers. The Glock 19M are FBI contract guns, but are essentially the same as a Gen 5 G19. Kind of the same thing, the Military version of the M18/M17 is still a 320 although they do not have the 320 roll mark. The Mil spec M18 guns do have a different rear sight and optic cut, specifically for the Delta Point Pro as per contract specs. It will work with the Romeo Pro optic as well. The M18 commercial guns, have the same rear sight optic plate as the X Carry and are compatible with the Romeo 1 and Pro optics. Everything else is going to virtually identical. The tan controls were on the first batch of Mil contract guns, and the commemorative version. They switched to the black controls as a cost saving measure. Mil Spec/Commemorative M18, note shorter rear sight front to back, and MFR numbering, and no 320 roll marking.  Commercial M18, Note difference in rear sight, and no MFR numbering, and 320 roll mark. The optics plates are different. Did they change the optics plate recently? MIL issued M17/M18 uses a single proprietary Torx screw, whereas the commercial M17/M18 uses two Allen screws. Attached File |

If you install an optics plate and remove the indicator, put a dab of hi temp silicone sealer at the end of the channel to cut down on carbon fouling your glass. Yes, I think there are three different designs of the cut, and possibly a fourth. Some adapter plate manufacturers just said 'fuck it' and will no longer try to keep up with the changes. Research carefully. |
I made the mistake once, and spent $5 per spring from SIG  Those at least are replaceable. If you mess up the soft, proprietary Torx screw on the MIL/MIL surplus M17/M18 optics plate, you will have to get that from SIG, who will give you a hard time because it's "military only" |

I could have ordered a military M17 but went with a commercial model. I wanted to use an RMR with it and the commercial slide is better suited for an RMR with the FCD plate. The slide cut itself is not bad and allows for a lot of options. @Duffy correct me if I am wrong but the difference between military and commercial is how the plate attaches and the bolt holes in the slide right? |

Correct. MIL version uses a single, and rather soft and proprietary Torx screw, while the commercial version uses two Allen screws, installed from the bottom. Our ACRO plates, with or without the rear sight dovetail, will work on both the MIL and civilian version of M17/M18. RMR plates with dovetail can't work on the MIL version. The inconsistent and incoherent plates/footprints for just within the P320 line are confusing and unnecessary. The same madness is being repeated in a smaller scale on the P365. First there's P365, then P365XL, then P365X where the rear sights and plates are removed together. Now there's P365 Macro, where the rear sight sits in its own dovetail. |

Again, nobody that truly knows is saying where these TC prefix M18s originated yet. All we can say for sure is that there have been dozens of people willing to pay $1,000-2,000 for one of these M18s and people who are trading true surplus M17s that they could easily sell for $1600 to get one of these M18s. |

I called Sig today and spoke to customer service, I was told they built too many for the military and decided to release the excess to the public. They could not tell me how many were released. |

Looks like SIG has dropped another batch of these. Proven Arms shows them on back order but allows orders to be placed, and Osage shows two available as of this post. Osage added a new blurb to their description. 'There is a limit on one of these firearms per customer. If you've previously ordered one please do not attempt to purchase a second one. This is our last shipment of these and because of the demand we're limiting them to one per customer. We'll verify all customer order histories (across multiple email addresses) to verify that there are no duplicate orders. We're aware that our site will allow multiple orders back to back. If that happens we'll cancel all the orders. These are not listed for purchase and resale. If you are a FFL with credentials do not buy this if you intend to try to resell it. If we see them resold we'll black list you and dox you to the Sig community.' |

Both Proven Arms and Osage County are showing these in stock through the SIG APP, so it looks like another batch came out. I’d like to have one of these. I’m not really interested in the original surplus M17s and M18s or the commemorative models, but I like this idea of just a regular production military M18. I just bought the commercial LE M18 from Proven Arms though, so it’s a little tough thinking about spending $130 more (let alone GB prices) just to get the military configuration. It’s just one of those things where if it’s important or meaningful to you, and you can afford it, got for it. I’m hoping these will be semi-regular item that will be restocked occasionally so I can pick one up later. Attached File |

The Army and other DoD services are using them. SIG is just selling the ones made to DoD specs. |

| I have been looking for months for the TC prefix M 18 , most places don`t know what they are some guys do , 3 weeks ago on a Fri night I stopped at the local shop and they had a new M18 with the AO prefix all looked good so I took it home , then was on Gun Broke and found a GI M 18 with the TC prefix new in the box hit the buy now , glad I got it , been looking for months for the TC gun now I got one , my buy now price was a good bit lower than I was seeing them bid up to still wasn`t cheap but I wanted it . |

| I’m really considering picking up both the M18 and M17 POW models. It would be purely for collecting as I already have both commercial models. I’m curious if anyone knows if these are a limited run or if they will continue to be available? Trying to prioritize my firearms purchases. |
