Almost all stainless used in firearms is going to be magnetic as austenitic 400 series or precipitation hardening 17-4. Martensitic stainless steels are non-magnetic and generally less useful for firearms, outside of perhaps suppressors or muzzle devices or non-load bearing formed/stamped components. |

I have a gen 3 glock 19 and don't want to mill my slide or get a new one. Considering this mount from Suarez and the 507c Holosun.
What other mounts should I consider? |

Just my opinions. I'd buy the standard G19 and have it milled. I have the MOS and milled versions and think milled is more secure, sits a little lower and looks better. Plus you can mount the rear sight in front of the RMR which I prefer. Jagerwerks does great work for like $125 - $185 depending on options. The Trijicon with 3.25 dot works best for me. You can turn up the brightness if you want a bigger dot. Also get suppressor height sights that lower 1/3 cowitness instead of true cowitness. Remember they are backup sights, not primary. Checkout Aaron Cowan at Sage Dynamics on YouTube for great RD info. He just went past 20k rounds on his RMR which he beat the snot out of (serious beating) and it still works great and holds zero. Good luck. ETA: Aaron replaced his battery twice in a couple years and 20k rounds and didn't have to rezero. Probably another advantage to a milled slide. |

I have an RMR on a G45 MOS, and an SRO in a G17 MOS. Both have Trijicon suppressor sights on them.
Do not let anyone talk you out of the Glock MOS system, there is nothing wrong with it so long as you get the right screws and follow directions. Anyone highlighting how a milled slide is "lower" than the MOS plate system must love a nearly cowitness setup on a RMR, because mine are barely lower 1/3. On the SRO, they are bottom 1/4 and I love it! Get some anti fog drops. I use them on all of my optics now after I had a fog issue with the RMR. |

Built a 19 for a carry optic carry gun and went to get a big boy, buy once optic with the 50k hour runtime and got a new gen 1 RMR. My first trijicon product.
From the moment I put it on I had problems with blinking on and off and dimming and that was just dry firing. Torqued and re-torqued the screws, tried different batteries and different brands, tried the different mounting plates that are suppose to fix the "flicker". Just got it back from the service dept and they replaced the lens, the light source, and the contacts. WTF? I was hoping that they'd just replace it with a gen 2. I guess I'm back to testing it till I feel comfortable that it'll work 100%. It's an expensive piece of equipment to lose trust in. It so much as blinks and it's going back again. The burris and vortex have always been good out of the box. After I beat a burris to death in a few years of competition, they sent a brand new one. YMMV |

YMMV The gen 1 RMR was not made specifically with handguns in mind. It came out before PMO took off. The gen 2 is designed with handguns in mind and just works. Checkout this video. The gen 1 issue with flickering (most didn't) was easily fixed with a gen 1 sealing plate.  Trijicon Type 2 RMR at 20K |
