[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Sig p320 80% - easy enough for most cavemen to do! (with photos & video links) (Page 2 of 3)

I read the op, trying to understand why anybody would spend over twice as much and assume the risk of completing the frame with no warranty and you cant sell it. |

I had a blast building my P80's, would love to build a 320 but not for 1k. Price will drop eventually and I will build one. Would rather build a 365xl though. |

Quoted: Just bought this $13 metric, metal-cutting drill bit set through Amazon: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/7102zN-QZPL._AC_SY450_.jpg Several posts up, I posted a photo of 2 metric reamers I happened to have on hand. They came in handy to slightly enlarge 2 of the holes I drilled with the supplied drill bits. Reamers are not inexpensive. And drill bits do a fine job too. This metric set should work perfectly ( I’ll report back after they arrive and I get the time to try them). “Perfectly” turned out to be an understatement- these new metric cobalt bits are AWESOME!! They slice right through stainless like a light-saber through Obi Wan! |

Its just how it is sometimes, big reason I haven't built a 1911 80% frame yet ($$$$$). I have a P320, might try a 80% FCU to switch out with the factory one. Probably gonna waste some money, but the one thing that cant be taken from you is experience and knowledge. |
|
Quoted: If anyone wants to "sell" theyre jig in dfw pm me Same, if anyone wants to sell me the jig, I'll gladly sell it back. I might keep the X-01 I'm selling in the EE if I can get into an 80%. I love 80% projects, have done a couple ARs and have a Glock P80 waiting. |
|
I finally sat down to put together the FCU I bought a couple of months back. It was a freaking pain in the ass. The trigger and trigger bar did not want to go together. I was having issues with the trigger bar and the trigger lining up right. It took me longer to get these two parts on then the entire rest of the build combined but finally got it all together. This was my second time putting together a FCU from parts. First one I do not recall having any issues with the trigger bar and trigger. |
|
Quoted: Finished mine the other day. Easier than I thought. Drill bits with the jig were junk, I went and braved the plague to buy some nice bits and it was way easier. Now if only I could find a fire control parts kit that was in stock. Amazing how much better the non kit bits work, isn’t it? Did you go with metric? |
|
Quoted: I'd love to do an 80% P320, but I've never seen the LPK in stock anywhere. That’s the boat I’m in. I did finish mine, but there is no parts to go with it. I think if you look through the schematics you can purchase the parts individually from Sig. As far as I can tell they just don’t have them all in a “kit” might go this route myself. |

There are some FFL's now stripping down Gen 3 Glocks to sell everything except the frame in kits...clearly targeted at the Polymer80 market. It took several years before we saw those start to show up and the market was flooded with used Glocks. |

I sold an SC completed slide and module on here not long ago. I sold my X-Carry slide on eBay for almost $400. The FCU from my X-Carry will go in my Flux Defense module if it ever arrives. |
|
Quoted: ![]() sig p320 thread bro Yes...my comments still stand. Buying a trade in p320 is the cheapest way to complete a p320 80% build right now. As the market grows and more used P320 are released, you will see parts kits available like you see in the glock 80% market. |

Got to work on second FCU (it’s nearly done). New drill bits (metric) made a huge difference and sliced easily through the stainless, but you can see I still have work to do: final trim on all 4 rails, connect the 2 safety slot holes, trim trigger hole slot, etc. Attached File |

OK I cant Help it anymore. I have to ask since he had to make the point that it was not cost effective and we were all shocked to go back and do the numbers because we hadnt noticed. It BAFFELS THE ABSOLUTE HELL OUT OF ME WHY PEOPLE DO THIS. It takes 10 seconds to read that the OP tells you its NOT CHEAP so it works like this... You log into a thread (probably KNOWING that the SIG 320 is NOT a cost effective build before you hit the button) that says Sig P320 80% then you read at least Part of the thread, Probably the first line saying ITS EXPENSIVE then you feel compelled to interject your opinion that its not cost effective to build the P320 THEN you bring up that you have built a P80. Which I have too and both of the ones I have built have cost me more than DOUBLE what I have ever paid for a Glock, and I have not seen a single one that would be cheaper to build unless its questionable ebay parts with no origin and those are MAYBE... but probably not when you add in mags.... Oh and you can sell it, you just have to serial number it. Im waiting for the guy to log in now and tell us its dangerous and will not be reliable and how its just like all those idiots building ARs that never work right.... WHY does anyone waste their TIME posting this stuff int threads that are BUILD THREADS.. Let ya in on a secret.... its gonna be MORE expensive for me because FIRST I'm gonna BUY a factory one THEN im gonna Build one, that way if I have a problem I have factory one to look at ....... I know I know it makes no sense, its like boneless chicken its just mind boggling. YO CAUSE MERICA DAMIT RANT MODE OFF Carry on with the teaching now please Im back to lurking. Wheres that scratching head Emoji Delete it if you need to mods. I feel better. |

Will the rail slots need to be milled like a 1911 80%? I don’t know yet. Easier? Harder? I do not know yet. But the company making them is the same. Would you guys be interested in another build thread when the p365 frames become available? Yes, I would love more build threads. Finished my p320 a few weeks ago. Now if Lancaster Tactical would ship my parts kit |

Also: a close look at the Sig factory P365 frame leads me to believe it is a “metal injection molding” (or MIM) manufactured part. I don’t want to re-start the whole mim part debate (please don’t go there). I only mention it because only the largest manufacturers have mim capability; while Billet milling is an option for every manufacturer. I suspect JSD will offer a CNC from billet frame for the P365z As far as you competing this new 80% frame, will it be: Easier? Harder? I do not know yet. But the company making them is the same. Polymer 80 has a new 320 lower/grip out. Brownells has it for $55: https://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/frames/pf320ptex-grip-module-black-sku100040817-135782-248253.aspx |
| While I'm excited for more companies making more P320 stuff, the WC module is hard to beat. My P80 Glock frame is not that well contoured. From the photos the P320 looks to be pretty much the same. If they released one for the X-Compact though I'd be willing to give it a try. |

Quoted: Bumping this thread for leads on lower part kits. Anyone finding them in stock anywhere? Availability seems to change from day to day. But I will hotlink the parts sources I’ve used or know about: First up: the Sig factory small parts shopper: https://www.sigsauer.com/sig-sauer-small-parts-shoppers/p320-parts-picker/ (Hint: the P320 assembly, sear group, includes the block and most of the sear parts for just $49.) Next: https://www.abprototype.com/ (Hint: they sell complete parts kits. But lowest cost is refurb for $189, and often OOS). Next: Numrich / GPC: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/search#query=P320 (Hint: parts prices are all over; some good, some not. Reliable old company) Next: CDNN: https://www.cdnnsports.com/catalogsearch/result/?order=relevance&dir=desc&q=P320 - their policy used to be $10 shipping on all orders; not sure if they still impose that. Next: I cannot forget to mention Brownells, our host: https://www.brownells.com/search/index.htm?k=P320&ksubmit=y Next, surprisingly, a few parts are available at: https://www.glockstore.com/parts-accessories/sig-sauer-parts/p320-parts Next up: https://www.midwestgunworks.com/sig-sauer-p320/parts.html |

Quoted: Has Numrich reopened? It’s been a while since I ordered from them, but they were always reliable in the past. Here is what their site states as of a few minutes ago: “Please note: for the health and safety of our employees, we are operating with limited staff and it may take up to 2 weeks to fulfill your order. At this time, we no longer accept orders over the phone.” |
