I have a P320 x-compact and I really enjoy it. The ability to swap out grip modules, slides, various mag capacities easily is awesome. The same is true for the P365 models - there are now too many models for me to mentally keep up with, but there is a fair amount of overlap between some of the P365XL models and various P320 models. I, too, prefer the Wilson Combat grip modules. I bought my P365 one used for something like $35 and it took a gun that I really enjoyed carrying & shooting and made it even better. You really can't go wrong with either option. P320 with WC grip module, Vortex red dot, Apex trigger/bar, and Herrington Arms comp  Stock P365 with WC grip module  ETA - no matter what I do I can't get pictures to post.

| I just won a full size P320 on Gunbroker tonight. I was out of .mil before the M18 came on the scene but some of the younger CATM instructors I’ve talked to said they’re not happy with them. Then again, I remember as a young Marine not being happy giving up our 1911s for the M9 either so I figured I’d have to see for myself how the P320 really works out for me. |

Sounds like they have longer break-in periods than the M9 and on one of my Facebook groups, they had one student that for some reason that took out the fire control group and had reassembled it to the slide without the frame. I’m not sure why they tried this and I’d have to look to see if I could find that picture again but it sounded like they had a hell of a time getting it corrected. Damn, now I want to see that post again but there’s several CATM groups and I can’t remember where I had seen it. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one again. ETA: Okay, I did some searching and here’s a few of the comments the younger guys had to say about the M18: “can be inaccurate if you don't have good fundamentals, rear sigh flys off when shooting, minimal sand or debris will seize up the slide, very cheaply made, recoil spring and guide gets messed up sometimes when trying to disassemble, the list goes on and on” “the m9 doesnt shoot 6-8 inches low straight out of the box either. nor did it need a 1,000 round 'break in period' (quoted from Sig rep)!!!!” There were other complaints about an increase in NDs at the clearing barrel but consensus was that this is more of a training/trigger finger discipline issue. If some dumb young airman left his finger on the trigger of an M9 and try to holster it, the heavy DA trigger was more forgiving and these NDs weren’t as much of an issue. One other issue that came up a few times was with females in base pop classes lacking the strength and inexperience to maintain a firm grip causing a lot of stoppages that were induced by limp wristing. I had no luck finding that picture of the horribly improper reassembly of the M18 without the frame though. |
