He accomplished being one of two republicans to vote against the first meaningful changes to the NFA in almost a century.

The inflation has been rampant for years. Sabotaging the changes to the NFA wouldn’t have magically fixed that. Nor would it have stopped foreign welfare. Want an end to all welfare foreign and domestic? Put a candidate up that’ll make it happen, I look forward to voting for them! The lengths y’all go to to excuse away a “2A guy” voting against unprecedented changes to a century old gun control scheme is savant level.

So here we are. On a website based around guns. Watching some Massie fan girls get their pussies hurt because their unicorn candidate is trash. He tried to sabotage positive changes to the NFA. Now he’s trying to sabotage the will of the people by impeaching the SoW. You know, the people that voted for secure borders and going after the people smuggling people and fentanyl into the country.

Yesterday I was a leftist to some of you liberaltarian fan girls. Today I’m a neocon. You milquetoast moderates, libertarians, compromising conservatives, or whatever you centrists identify as now a days need to be a little more consistent. Because when you’re all over the place it makes you seem like a teenage emo girl just screaming and being dramatic just for the sake of it.

This is rationalization and excuses, pure and simple. The bill was horrible. It's a large part of why Trump is the biggest spender in history and it's not even close. It's almost impressive in its scope, or would be if we all weren't paying for it.

It's disingenuous at best to say Massie tried to sabotage changes to the NFA. He tried to stop an abortion of a spending bill that funded dozens of bad things and didn't fund dozens of good things Republicans promised to do. If you asked him he'd tell you straight up what was good and bad in the bill and I'd guarantee he'd have voted to can the NFA entirely (no pun intended) given the chance.

You're not an idiot. You know damn well this is the truth.

Massie also has a nice collection of NFA items. He clearly likes guns and the 2nd Amendment. To my knowledge, he’s also never voted for gun control and has supported pro-2A bills.

If the litmus test for  2A voting records is the OBBB, then Cornyn (co-crafter of the Bipartisan Safer Community Act, the first federal gun control bill passed in two decades) is more of a 2A advocate than Massie… which is clearly not true.

Plus, while I’m one of the people who was making phone calls and writing emails to get zero dollar tax stamps (and the reform language which was unfortunately removed by the Parliamentarian) and I’m generally happy with $0 tax stamps, there’s still a ways to go on that and it was such a small part of the OBBB when considering the entire bill. I can’t really fault a GOP representative voting either way on the OBBB, because the reality is the $0 tax stamps were like a dinner mint at a massive multi-course feast which mostly consisted of cheap wine, stale bread, and low grade cuts of meat with the occasional good side. On one hand, it wasn’t really a good meal and the dinner mint doesn’t make the whole meal good; on the other hand, the meal was always going to fall short of expectations, so at least we got the mint.

All spending bills are abortions paid for by tax payers. None of them ever have anything Pro-2A in them. When given a chance to vote on something with Pro-2A, he voted with the antigunners. Didn’t I see you in another thread claiming to have bought some 4473 cans? Clearly, if you’re so opposed to the bill and didn’t want it to pass. You should go back and demand them processed on form 4s. Here is a link that will walk you through making the $200 donations for each of those items to the general fund for the taxes you didn’t pay on this terrible bill you’re opposed to.

You can attempt to rationalize it all you want. He was willing to sacrifice the expansion of 2A rights over budget matters. That’s not surprising, there’s currently a multiple page thread full of compromising views on the 2A actively on page 1 or 2 here. Just as he’s actively trying to sabotage the will of the voters and impeaching SoW for giving the voters what they voted for.

He has not supported all Pro-2A bills. He voted with the antis and tried to sabotage a budget bill with Pro-2A changes. Your own comment says as much. You can attempt to rationalize away his compromising on Pro-2A matters all you want.

But but but the orange guy said the things!1!1 Meanwhile we have a totally “2A guy” voting against the most meaningful changes to the NFA in its history.

So, we’ve determined he prioritizes budgets matters over constitutionally recognized and protected 2A rights. He doesn’t actually care about the will of the people and is trying to punish the SoW for doing what voters elected. The candidate that our principled conservatives love to swoon over looks far less like a constitutional unicorn, and much more like just another donkey with a dick strapped to his head

Massie voted against trillions of government waste and foreign aid. It's incredibly naive to make a statement like you did. That's Fox News type nonsense, the type of garbage I just argued with my dad about.

Also, Trump specifically campaigned on no new wars, so an undeclared war in the Middle East is exactly NOT what the voters wanted.

It’s naive to pretend this was like every other bloated budget bill that’s ever been passed. This one contained Pro-2A changes to the NFA. Again, it proves budgets matter more to him than 2A. It passed, and Massie goes down in history as one of 2 republicans that voted with the antigunners.

The action against Venezuela, both against Maduro and the so-called drug boats, was illegal. You choose to believe the government without question in this case. I do not. It is plausible to believe that some boats were probably carrying drugs. It is not plausible or ethical or legal to suggest that every person aboard every boat was a narco-terrorist and lethal force was justified. "Flooding our streets with fentanyl" sounds like something Sean Hannity would say. It's also ignorant and misinformed because cocaine is primarily what comes from South America, not fentanyl. It's like boomer boogeyman rhetoric doesn't even try.

As for the bill, Massie opposed it primarily on fiscal grounds because it's projected to add over $4 trillion to the debt. Presumably you have SOME notion of "that's too much," in which case you and Massie disagree on scale, not principle. Maybe you don't, I don't know. I am assuming if it was a $40 trillion spending bill you'd probably say that's not worth it.

Personally I don't give a damn about the $0 tax stamp. I bought quite a bit after Jensen, but that's because of the elimination of Form 1/4. I understand the $0 was at least partially what paved the way for that, so I am happy about that aspect of it. But using that as "saving Americans money," I mean, just come on.

No one claimed he supported "all Pro-2A bills." But more importantly this so-called monumental NFA change was just a rider on a massive budget bill lowering the tax stamp to zero dollars. We have enjoyed a small victory in the legal fight to getting the NFA tossed out. There's a lot of work to do.

Getting zero-dollar tax stamps and potentially getting the NFA thrown out by the courts, while an excellent goal and something I support, isn't the "final boss" of gun control and a defensible argument can be made for not voting for the OBBB because of its onerous spending provisions (the poorly cooked feast in my previous analogy) despite the carrot of the zero-dollar tax stamps (the dinner mint in my analogy). The idea that a principled conservative should violate his principles and keep funding deficit spending and a rapidly growing national debt that will negatively affect the lives of all Americans if we don't get it under control in order to lower a special purpose tax on one special interest that may allow the law to be thrown out by courts to not violate his principles is a logical non-sequitur: Massie probably would have voted to repeal the NFA in its entirety if given the chance, but in this case that would have meant voting for spending that he did not agree with or believe was in the best interest of the country. It was a lose-lose.

Look at his track record. He has sponsored Pro-2A bills.

I asked Gemini: "List pro-2a bills introduced or sponsored or cosponsored by Thomas Massie."

Gemini: "Representative Thomas Massie has consistently introduced and championed several major pro-Second Amendment bills throughout his tenure in Congress. Key pieces of legislation that he has introduced or sponsored include:

* **National Constitutional Carry Act (previously introduced as the Real Constitutional Carry Act)**: This legislation (such as H.R. 645) prohibits state and local governments from penalizing or restricting eligible U.S. citizens from carrying firearms in public spaces, ensuring nationwide recognition of constitutional carry without requiring a government-issued permit.
* **Second Amendment For Every Registrable Voter Act (SAFER Voter Act)**: First introduced and repeatedly reintroduced by Rep. Massie (such as H.R. 1643), this bill repeals the federal restriction that prevents voting-age adults aged 18 to 20 from purchasing handguns from Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs).
* **Safe Students Act**: Originally introduced as H.R. 7415, this bill seeks to repeal the federal "Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990," eliminating the one-size-fits-all federal ban on firearms in school zones and returning authority over gun policies back to local jurisdictions and states.

EDIT: Also, it's news to me that voters voted for a new war in the Middle East (which is now escalating into a ground war between proxies/allies). It's news to me that the War Powers Act allows the President and SoD to engage in endless conflicts without Congressional approval.

1.2M forms submitted year to day. $240M in taxes Americans didn’t have to pay. Millions upon millions of dollars of sales and jobs created by manufacturers and businesses into the firearms industry.

“Everything I don’t like is Fox News propaganda” there’s that left and centrist rhetoric we’ve all come to know and love.

That’s not the only thing he’s trying to impeach him for. If it was I’d not have mentioned it. He’s also trying to impeach him for the actions taken against narco terrorists. Remember, those people Americans were tired of, that were flooding our streets with illegals and fentanyl? So we, you know, voted for the guy promising to close our border, and go after the cartels…

Illegal lol We’ve been dropping bombs on terrorists for decades, we’ve also snatched our fair share of them. Plausible to believe they were just good honest fisherman or vacationers. I wonder where we’ve heard those wild unsubstantiated claims before. You do realize traffickers, traffic everything right. Cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, people, and everything else of value.

Until they start cutting all welfare in budget bills, I disagree with all of them. Despite me disagreeing with them, they’re going to get passed. The idea that a self proclaimed 2A guy should attempt to sabotage one containing pro 2A changes is absurd. Again it means budget>rights for him. If you can point out in the BOR, where the founders say rights take the backseat to budget matters. I’d happily read it! Nothing you can say, no amount of rationalization can change that. It’s reality. That’s why your argument keeps resorting back to buzzwords about Fox News, boomer boogeyman, Hannity.

Partially paved the way lol. It was the plan all along. A plan Massie voted against. It has nothing to do with saving Americans money. In fact Americans have been spending plenty on suppressors this year giving millions of dollars to American businesses as they’re buying them with the tax gone. 1M+ form 4s alone on items $500-$1000 a piece. A pretty big one of those manufacturers is in his own state. His actions attempted to have Americans write 1.2M $200 checks to the general fund to exercise their rights.

We agree it’s not the final boss. It’s a stepping stone. One he voted against.

There is no defense of budget>rights. If it would have been a balanced budget with the massive cuts to domestic and foreign welfare needed, it wouldn’t have been passed anyways because neither party wants to do the needful as that party would never hold power again. Then we’d sit here screaming how useless republicans can never get anything accomplished and this was all talk like the HPA. We’d still be paying $200, and certainly not have 4473 in 27(?) states.

FWIW: I don’t think Massie is antigun. I think he values budgets more than rights.

Looking only at the pro 2A stuff in the Big Beautiful Bill is dishonest, and will only sway the most simple minded of reader. It added trillions of debt and let’s not forget the 10 year moratorium on AI. It doesn’t matter if it completely abolished the NFA, GCA and Hughes amendment. He showed how the founding fathers would have been likely to vote. The failure of the people to get substantial numbers of politicians that support the Constitution into office is the problem. We have the most perfect form of government ever and they don’t respect it or follow their oaths.

This is exactly why I say the things I do. The left does not have a monopoly on propaganda and low-information voters.

Thomas Massie likely opposed HB10326 because he pretty much ALWAYS opposes expansion of federal power, additional federal mandates, and data collection like this. He has always opposed federal access to state records.

It's like being surprised that Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act. I'm sure lots of people here called him a terrorist back then too.

It’s just a personality flaw some very broken people have that’s common in the TDS crowd which claims to be Republican.

They don’t like the other side, they claim, but their superiority complex makes them completely unable to do anything with their own side because agreeing would make them less special and wise, so they have to constantly nitpick and critique their own side, but their vain and desperate searching for approval means they also have to “reach across the aisle”.

They are mentally unwell when it comes down to it. Children trapped in adult bodies who are incapable of making binary decisions.

If they were on the other side, they’d do the same thing. Ultimately it’s about attention seeking vanity and a feeling of superiority… the “principles” are just for show.

Lol being critical of politicians makes you a snowflake. What a patriotic stance.

I think it's ironic to accuse others of attention seeking vanity and feelings of superiority in defense of a man like Trump.

Sincerely,

3 time Trump voter who must have had TDS all these years but never showed any symptoms until we got a new war. Clearly we're the problem, not politicians who deceive voters to advance the agenda of their donors with foreign citizenship.
