I hate windows, it sucks I've been saying for a while that if Linux allowed good games I'd use it more Today with jayztwocents video, I started looking into Bazzite Anybody have experience? I have spare partition on my NVME so debating trying https://bazzite.gg/ My goal isn't AAA/bleeding edge gaming ETA  I FINALLY listened to you and tried Linux... Why did I wait so long? |

Was gonna say, do you even steamdeck? It runs on arch. There's also the much older "playonlinux", which is a GUI wrapper around wine and mono that sets of environments for games/programs to run in linux. https://www.playonlinux.com/en/supported_apps-1-0.html |

I use Fedora for gaming exclusively. I only have Windows in a virtual machine, but I never use it for gaming. Check https://www.protondb.com/ for the games you want to play. Online games are going to give you a headache. Any games that have kernel level anticheat in it are going to give you a bad day. If you have an AMD GPU, things are going to be easier overall. Nvidia is improving, but you are likely to have issues with the driver sooner or later. With AMD the driver is all in the kernel and mesa. |

Running Bazzite for couple days as main OS and so far I'm impressed Been playing Fallout 4 and so far very little issues. Loading from map to map is PIA in both windows and linux but seems to be SSD/NVME issue I am getting 50fps in Linux and 40fps in Windows so I'm happy Looking for more FPS/action games playable in Linux to continue testing |

That might be right up your alley if you haven't played it yet. All of the recent Doom Games run very good on Linux. |

I just bought a minisforum A! X1 Pro with Ryzen 370, 2TB SSD and 96 GB of ram for 945 bucks. I have fedora 42 installed configured perfectly for my tastes. I have Steam w/Proton enabled and I’m gonna try out some light gaming. If I get serious it has occulting and they have a GPU dock. I’ve really come to enjoy using KDE Plasma and it was easy transition from macOS. All of my short cuts and hot corners are configured identically to my Mac mini. I have it connected to a 34” Samsung OLED curve monitor. Should be decent. |

Most stuff just works out of the box, Steam, Proton, emulators, controllers, etc. If you’re not chasing the latest anti-cheat heavy AAA titles, you’ll be fine. Since you’ve got a spare partition, I’d say give it a try. Worst case, you just wipe it and go back. Also, while I was experimenting with different setups, I ended up trying different types of games. And I really liked pokies, I play them online. , And I came across pokiespros.com rating which gives an info about real money casino games. Totally different from something like Bazzite of course, but I found it interesting to try various games. |
