ive been looking hard at them for a while now and think ive convinced myself to go look at one in real life, which could be dangerous. local dealership has the exact one I want - white with carbon fiber roof - at a pretty decent price. specs are great, reviews seem positive and I know the looks aren't for everyone but I think they are absolutely sexy. anyone have one or have any experience with them? input is welcome. |

I'm in the process of ordering a 2027 xDrive M2, and I've test driven a few of the RWD M2's both manual and auto. Some things I learned from test drives: - The RWD M2 can get squirrelly on you - You don't really feel the weight of the car - Being the baby M it doesn't get the good leather - The wide computer screen dash is more gimmick than anything - The manual is good for feel, the auto is good for speed - Get the HUD - The wireless charger is trash - Only buy the CS if you have money to burn as you can flash a regular RWD M2 with the CS DME and get 90% of the way there for 30k less |

I think they run about 2k. BMW offers a port installed "M Performance" carbon fiber spoiler under code 0ZC9 that while it doesn't look the same gives sort of the same vibe. As for the wheels, I'm pretty sure you can buy those same 827M series wheels in gold straight from BMW. No idea what they cost... probably something stupid. |

I've owned a Miata so I can manage but im hoping the M2 has a little more space... edit - and since you clearly know more about them than I - can I fit a golf bag in the trunk?

I'm 5' 10" and I fit just fine. The carbon fiber roof gives you a little more headroom than the moonroof option, and you can drop the seat a little bit as well. My current car is a GR Supra and someone of your height might knock their head on the roof getting in and out. As for a golf bag, the rear seats fold down and the trunk opening is big-ish. You can probably fit two golf bags in there side by side with the seats down if I had to guess. Edit: I'm also guessing that is a 2026 model on the lot. With the 2027's going into production this month and the xDrive being everyone's focus, my guess is that white RWD M2 will still be on the lot on Friday. It has been my experience that most M2 buyers are looking for three things: A paint color that isn't white, black, or grey, the manual, and either the carbon package or at minimum the carbon roof. |

Suspension wise the Comp CS option is magnitudes better on the track (not even close) and is brutal on the street and around town. Power wise a flash can get you part of the way there for a bunch less $$$, but it does not feel (or sound) like a Comp CS. For the past several years in South Florida the dealers inventory would be close to 100% Comp CS options on the M2,M3 and M5 builds as ridiculously, nobody wanted anything else. The CS DME does not necessarily void your warranty but certainly puts you in Jeopardy of having warranty issues. Logs still show ECM was flashed even though is OE BMW calibrations or if you restore factory tune before bringing in for service. Dealerships and BMW USA has definitely caught on, especially for big-ticket powertrain and tranny issues. |

I imagine a flashed G87 RWD M2 will sound exactly like a G87 CS since they have the exact same motor, transmission, and exhaust from the engine back. The only unique performance parts (that are not weight saving / cosmetic) on the CS are the suspension, motor / tranny mounts, and I think the drive shaft / rear diff. Everything else is the exact same, just running different software. There might be greater differences on the full G8X M3 and M4 CS and CSL variants, but the baby G87 M is a parts car with hot software. |

It is a ton of fun around town and in traffic, has a backseat and a useful trunk and short road trips are tolerable. If you over option a new one, pushing $100k, the performance/ value ratio plummets very very rapidly against something like a couple year old well optioned low mileage C8. (Yes different animal but we are talking about fun second vehicles with track potential). FYI, I am a German car lover at heart and have Autobahn time and track time. Honestly, the performance / value ratio starts out pretty crappy already on the “M” cars now. That is why the non-M sport models have done amazingly well and actually have some real value. I have driven them all very extensively including some insane stuff, but I find myself driving other stuff these days that would stroke these Arf com guys out. However, the heart wants what it wants!!! |
