OK just for funsies if money was no issue what is your dream guitar. There are no rules or guidelines to this. It could be an off the rack Martin HD-28 or the original David Gilmours Strat that just sold for $14 million. I'll start:  James Olson James Taylor model Brazilian rosewood back and sides and cedar top. Closest I could find wasn't an actual James Taylor run but is pretty much identical. Sweet. I do love PRS. I used to have a few (nothing like that) but sold em all off in a downsizing moment. Kept my Ron Thorns though. |

Right now…..LOL… This Preston Thompson is on my radar. Attached File But if money really were no object; Attached File Something like this from Matt McPherson they are just otherworldly. But honestly I have GAS bad and an ear for nice guitars. A Kevin Ryan Kodiak or something by Ren Ferguson. Chris at Driftwood is a Favorite and no one is probably as well known as Richard Hoover but if I were to show up at his shop looking for a custom guitar after hearing me play would just hand me a Taylor and wish me luck. |

I am not a musician, nor play guitar. My oldest son did me a favor, and I recently bought him his dream guitar. He owns dozens, but this was his grail.  It's sitting in my closet waiting for the next time he comes for a visit. Fender American Professional 2 Strat. |

Gibson Les Paul Custom Attached File Only $5499 at Sweetwater. I used to have one. Bought one new from Guitar Center back in 2005. Sold it in 2014. Frankly, it didn’t sound all that great. Beautiful guitar though. I’ll probably never buy another, if anything I’m going to start selling stuff. |

He, like my wife, passed from Pancreatic Cancer in 2017. The one on my radar was custom built for the lead singer of the country group Midland. I’m old enough now that buying new guitars is dumb. I don’t have “several” McPhersons but I’ve got one…as hard to find as they are I’m grateful to have it. Its my favorite of all the guitars I’ve owned. They are spectacular. The Ryan is a guitar I’ll never deserve either but my wife thinks that life is too short to listen to me play crummy guitars so she keeps talking like it’s on the “list” but I’d be happy with another flavor of McPherson honestly. |

I kinda sorta already own mine, but if I had to answer I'd love to add a pre-war OM-28 to my recording stable. You can pick them up for around $30k so nothing crazy like the dreadnought prices. Eventually I still want to have a lightweight copy of my '79 LP Artist made for gigging. I was going to have this done years ago by Heritage when the guys who carved and finished the original were still working there, but found a different guitar that I just couldn't pass up. I'd still have Heritage do it - an H147 with a Super Eagle neck, basically. |

BRW/Spruce, Maple/Spruce, Koa/Adi and carbon fiber one recently which is awesome for Arizona cause I can leave it out to grab and play. My McPhersons are carefully cased unless being played or like just now photographed to show off. I'm gonna take out the Ryan after Ifinish posting. |
| Probably a pre cbs Tele. My other dream guitars I have or have very good similar instruments. Wanted a nice 000 for ages and got a 000-28 modern deluxe about four years ago. I'd like a vintage d18, but I own an exceptional 1960s guild d40 (also a mohagany/spruce dred). |

As a very young kid, I checked out one of those newfangled Steinberger M series at Thoroughbred Music in Tampa. Way out of my price range, but that koa wood. Didn't know then it was a rare thing, featured in the catalog, but they only made a few. I've seen one or two come up for sale (Lou Reed's was one, IIRC).  My wife bought me a Spirit in amber many years ago because it was the closest thing she could find. Scratched that itch, but I still dig the OG one.

I think I need an intervention. I am in contact with Olson about one of his guitars. Choices are both the J Taylor specs one with Indian RW (which JT actually uses) or one with BRW. If someone would just buy my damn MP5 I'd have enough for the BRW one and cash left over. Anyone interested? |

I am fine with the guitars I have. Nothing overwhelming, but they fit me well. I don't see anything out there that would change anything from what I already have. My holy grails are amps and cabinets. There are quite a few that I would love to have, as well as a setup where I could really open them up. I have never played an SLO 100 fully open. Or a Deizel. Or an Uberschall. Amps are my holy grail.  |

I kept what I figured covered all my needs which isn't much in the high gain area. 65Amps London 2x10 combo. Fender Blues Jr. Mesa Boogie Mark IV 1x12. Funny part is some of the really high end amps did nothing but expose me as a shit jammer.

For some reason, well, part of that being Lindsey Buckingham, I have always wanted a Turner Model 1. It sounds great. Of course, that goes back to Lindsey's playing ability and his claw hammer style, which I don't do. I'd at least like to play one. Other than that, a Kramer Pacer Custom 1. Our guitarist had one and he could play blistering leads, and the tones for metal and even cleans were damn good. They were overbuilt too. He's still got his nearly 40 years later. I'm playing a Jackson JS32Q Dinky DKA guitar now, cause I'm poor, but have owned and played SGs, and quite a few Strats, and one Peavey T60 that weighed a ton. |
