Just ordered my first bambu printer (x2d combo). Had a ender that I hadn't used in a few years. That was my only experience with 3d printing. I'm wanting to do all my printing offline. Ive order a filament dryer, some pa6-cf, and thumb drive. Some questions 1. Will I be able to do firmware updates and should I? 2. What slicer should I use? 3. What are the best sites to get 2a files now days? 4. Anything I'm missing? Thanks! |

With both my P2S and H2D I selected LAN mode under the selections menu. If you have a dual band modem/router, make sure your computer and 3D printer are using the same band. I do not have developer made selected. Simple as that. With Bambu Studio I found that you can only have 1 project window open at a time for the computer to recognize the printer. If Studio still will not recognize the printer, close/quit Studio and reopen it. |

Maybe the correct answer is what level of security do you want. I dont trust any of this stuff and neither do large companies and especially the defense industry does not trust it. I go for maximum, even though were just designing commercial non defense or firearm stuff. Orca is a great slicer and only has a couple features missing that Bambu slicer has. I run everything offline, not even LAN. I use non bambu USBs with ORca to transfer files to the printers. Computers are cheap enough you can get a dedicated one and run it offline too. If you were in the defense industry you would have to remove the wifi from the printer. Orca may be shitting the bed as the latest update says they are going to go the route of bambu with a cloud base deal and their own version of makersworld-it looks like. I know the better printer guys here with way more experience probably laugh at my stuff, but I have dealt with the chinese and the entire dam country is built of stolen everything. |

Bambu does make great stuff and it just works right out of the box, they also sell so fast whatever you buy is pretty darn new with the latest updates. I have yet to do firmware updates on any of ours and they all run fine, and we demand a lot. The H2 and X2 series have special alignment plates, thats maybe the only thing I would get for an update. If you want security, block everything off you can the second you get it. Goes for pretty much anything you buy these days. |
