Recently got denied an NFA transfer, BG check fail. The only information I got from the feds was the text of title 18, 922G(4), the “mentally defective” portions. Which is funny, because I’ve never even seen a shrink, nor been committed. To challenge this determination, they’re asking for supporting documentation. What the fuck am I supposed to send them to prove that I was never committed  I don’t even know what mouthbreathing retards reported me as a headcase. For all I know, it’s a case of names getting mixed up. Haven’t gotten the chance to call and twist someone’s ear over this yet, but I plan on crawling someone’s ass first thing in the morning. I’d appreciate whatever advice I can get from anyone else that’s had this happen to them, kindof on a timetable with the change in VA laws coming down the pipe. |

They denied my Form 4. Mind you this is after being approved for about a dozen. They made me get a UPIN. I think what’s going on is they are under pressure to be fast so they are making people get UPINs in order to speed the process up. Just do the VAF. They will do a background check and you will get UPIN, and that will be that. |

I've had one appeal come back w/in 30 days, didn't even have to run another NICS check. The appeals are going pretty fast, I'm about 50% on denials being successfully appealed this year. UPIN will fix it going forward. |

Alot of people have info that is entered into the NICS section as a "possible prohibition," which typically triggers the "further review," where someone looks at the information and gives you a proceed or delay with the information they have on file. For the delay's they do further research into whatever the possible prohibition is and theoretically follow up on it with the FFL. A U-Pin allows the NICS section to retain information that eliminates that step (in theory) for people that get delayed or erroneously denied. do you get delayed occasionally? or do your 4473's go to further review, before getting a proceed? |

Never had it take more than a few hours when the system was bogged down, so I assumed I was getting through about as fast as is possible. |

You can also E-Mail the NICS section with the NTN number and your information to get more information about the issue, but it sounds like a U-Pin is a must for you. |

NICS "further review" is no longer a thing while the FFL waits, it's either instant approval or delay. Since Virginia is a POC state they may handle that differently, but in the NICS world you're getting delayed. You absolutely need a UPIN. If you were in WV I would tell you to get a CHL so the FFL doesn't even have to bother with NICS. |
