And the indexing service burns up all kinds of time and CPU. I detest it, it sucks anyway, and I always immediately disable it. So I recently find out about Voidtools "Everything" search tool. The thing built an index of my NTFS volume with about 1.3mm files in about 1 second.  I was able to exclude certain folders (like c:\Windows, etc) and exclude certain file extensions. I am indexing a couple of network drives, too. I set up some Bookmarks and HotKeys for certain things I tend to search for a lot (e.g. CSV files that start with a certain string and always end with 0.csv" for example, with a string inside (the header) of "Telem_0_0" or whatever". Anyway, I love it, I have zero association with the author whatsoever, just one of those rare little utilities that make life on Windows better. |

Will have to look into that. I've been doing OS installs with an autounattend.xml script file, it's great for leaving out all of the bullshit you don't want, or at least, as much as you can. https://schneegans.de/windows/unattend-generator/ |
