Right handed golfer. Doesn't happen on the course but if I hit enough balls on the range it will get irritated and almost blister up. Taken a couple of lessons (clinic) and the instructor says the right thumb shouldn't even be a factor in holding the club when swinging so I'm obviously gripping the club to tightly with my right hand. But when I try to remove my right thumb out of the equation my swing feels really awkward. Anyone else delt with this before when learning or have any ideas what's going on? |

The grip is probably moving in your hand during the swing. 2 potential causes off the top of my head: - People with poor grip mechanics often lose some contact with the club near the top and have to “regrip” it. - Despite the old “grip it like a bird” suggestions, most amateurs don’t grip the club tightly enough at address. |

Yeah, you might be able to save them but I imagine having worn grips might be contributing to a tighter grip, and that added pressure causes hot spots. I usually change 2-3 times a year, more on my wedges but I play a bunch. Try a good scrub, and if that doesn't get the grip back, might be time for new ones. |
