Without divulging to much, I was asked if I had anyone that wanted to raise me. My 3rd should be coming up in the next few months, and we (3 of us) have been shown to be proficient by WM. I dont have any family members that are masons, but a friend is a MM. Had no dealings with until after I got in lodge. I guess what Im looking for is how important is the person doing the "raising". I dont want to miss out on something I will regret, i was told I should take some time to reflect on who, if anyone. Any advice here? |

How about your coach? If you have a close relationship to an MM, go with that. If not, let the WM or whoever is conferring the degree do it. It's the same result. Focus on the symbolism of that piece of the degree. I have Masonry in common with my FIL. He lives out of state but attended all of my degrees and raised me along with my coach. He was there for my KCCH and 33rd. He was Chaplain when I was installed GM last year. If we didn't have that Masonic connection whoever was doing the degree that day would have raised me and I wouldn't have thought any different of it. |

. I am still trying to soak it all in. We also had supposedly one of the largest turnouts in a year or so. Ran out of food.

Congratulations! There is certainly a lot to absorb from that degree (and the two others). Not sure if you can order it without joining but the Scottish Rite, but if you can the Symbolic Lodge course is really good for digging into those degrees. https://mastercraftsmancollege.org/course-details/Dk |
