More importantly, why has no museum anywhere displayed those giant's bones? Surely some theocracy, even a Muslim one, or even just a museum like the Noah's Ark one in Kentucky, would be more than willing to haul them in front of the public. Does the Smithsonian have some agreement with every institution of higher learning and museum or something?

Compare what you can see on the right side of the photo to the construction on the left and behind. My thoughts are that the Inca inherited these megalithic sights and built on top of them (not uncommon in the ancient world) trying to emulate what they saw, but without the extreme precision of their forbearers. The very square blocks on the right in the photo actually represent the "middle" building period according to some researchers, the earliest blocks are the larger non-uniform building technique in the bottom photo, that appear to be 'melted' together almost (behind the Mrs). Seeing it in person is pretty memorable!

This whole video is full of stupid along with the author.

The Machu Picchu site was in severe decay when found.  Many walls were falling down. For re-construction walls were rebuilt to represent the Inca time.

Here's how it looked when discovered, completely overgrown.  There's a wall that was being built when the Spaniards arrived and told the few living there to go. It shows the craftsmanship

Making a "through" hole is much easier than making a square sided  with a  bottom cutout in a stone like was done at PumaPunka that I posted above.
Yea I get that - and I've seen how sharp the cuts are. There's stuff like this at Puma

Attached File

Don't have access to mine so I cribbed these at Handcocks site. So how's that done? Without iron? Assumed it was abrasives - lot of complexity I agree.

Someone mentioned there's evidence of iron use in pre-Columbian SA, but I'm not aware of it. Love to be pointed there.

Attached File

As LJE mentioned there's been some liberal reconstruction - as above - but I don't think any of it involved cutting the monuments.

The copper anchor system was intended to hold blocks together so this happened over a long enough time to realize effects. And there were hundreds on thousand of potential workers in a society that was committed to building ritual centers. It was likely the life work of many. But I still done get how they did some things. But neither do I believe it was ET - just very clever humans.

The iron hoop wheel (as opposed to straked) was common throughout the Roman Empire but only re-emerged in the mid 1800s in America, later in Europe. So things get lost. But still fascinating.

I'm not sure the ability now exists to copy one of these walls even if you allow concrete to be used - the joints would not be as perfect as they are now, and there is definitely no way we could do it with hard stone. Whatever, the natives did not have iron or steel or any other way to cut these hard granite stones, particularly in the odd but totally coordinated random shapes in these walls. It would be more believable if the stones were at least rectangular with parallel surfaces like the Egyptians used, but these random shapes fitting together perfectly without mortar and the walls lasting millennia in an earthquake zone without cracking or the joints opening up is simply not imaginable.
Back to the concrete - from the time I first saw these walls in books 50 years ago I had the feeling that whatever made them had the ability to 'de-construct' the stone, mold it somehow into these fantastic and integrated shapes, return the completed stones to their solid state and then build the wall. I believe this work required a computing power that we do not yet have, not to mention the power to play around with the state of blocks of stone so they can be malleable and then re-hardened.

The wheel was known - it wasn't useful, so it wasn't used.  But, like in various European societies it made its entry as toys. It was never developed though.

All the chemical analysis on the rock has indicated - it's chemically identical to the source rocks of the quarries.

They had a dark colored hamerstone, high in iron, that would chip away at the granite.  Watch one of the educational channels on TV sometime.  Hammerstones are still laying there.  Much more impressive than what the Mayans did with limestone.  Also had channels in the rock to run water to cisterns and to the crops they grew.  Sad thing was that a couple hundred Spanish conquered the several thousand member tribe, so easily.

When others say these things were not done by bronze-age people who didn't even have the wheel, this kind of thing is what they're thinking of.

Alright, check out how tight this tissue paper fits together. How did I do it? How could I possibly cut piece #1 and then meticulously cut piece #2 to fit so well without computers, Devine intervention, or aliens???

I'll never tell.

I have heard some good theories on the ancient races like the the people calming to be decedents of Incas or Mayans are not really their decedents at all. Just like the Egyptians of today are not descendants of the Egyptians that built the pyramids.

That they are actually descendants of what we refer to as third worlders today, that the real Incas, Mayan, Egyptian people had their societies overrun and smothered into non-existence by overwhelming numbers of less advanced peoples wanting what they had.

What is going on today in Europe and America is history just repeating itself, that a couple thousand years from now the people living in American and Europe will not be the decedents of Americans or Europeans as I am sure they will try and claim. They will be the decedents of the people that smothered western civilization in to non-existence.

It’s an incredibly sad reflection on the negative impact the once-great history channel has had on our nation, when you can show pictures of some old stone walls and carvings, and a significant portion of the population immediately thinks space aliens.

Some of the Genetic studies are confirming links of the AWKI-1 and -2 haplotypes as  characteristic of the Inca, and the line appears to trace back to the Tiwanaku area.

Another has has given credence to local Uros as possible descendents of the Tiwanaku culture - as opposed to the Aymara, whose language the Uros seems to have adopted. But genetically they are distinct, in line with their claims as decendents of the builders of Tiwanaku.

If it wasn't for the fact that similar stonework was done at different locations all around the globe at approximately the same time and how it was done still remains a mystery.
Rent never buy......... you don't have to pay for the maintenance and it's easier to upgrade to a newer model.
