I was watching some history show trying several hypothetical techniques to precision cut stone. There is no way they could have done that kind of work in 2 lifetimes.

Dry sanding, dry cutting, wet sanding, wet cutting, score and burn with hot coals, etc.

Every method will work but to smooth like 6 inches a day with a dozen people would take forever even if they were perfect with no mis-cuts.

Let me give you a hint on how I know this was done by indigenous populations.

Advanced societies work in composites & advanced materials, primitive societies work in stone.

Man, you're not kidding.

I've always kind of enjoyed Bigfoot threads, just because they're generally light hearted with one or two trolls or true believers.

But with the Q thread and the last couple UFO threads we've had, I've started to really wonder.

No they were skilled craftsmen working to build palaces or monuments to their ruler who was also seen as a God.In the Mayan world he would have been called Ahaw or Lord and was considered an earthly manifestation of a God.Just as Hirohito was looked upon by the Japanese as a God at one time. When you’ve convinced the people of your divinity you have people willingly building these things.

Whether the Olmec,Mayans,Incas or Aztecs the ruling elite kept a skilled class of artisans such as potters, stone masons, painters, weavers etc.The people who moved the stones may have been slaves but the stone masons surely were not.

I remember a demo of a guy who created a very nice stone cube about the size of a bowling ball, wonderful sharp ninety degree corners.  The ONLY tool he used was another stone, round, also about the size of a bowling ball.  All it took was pounding one stone against the other, though with much practice and knowledge of exactly where and how hard to strike.

It speaks more of these cultures that they could create enough of a food surplus that people could take all the time needed to do this stonework.

Part of the problem is we think in the wrong time scale. Our constructions take months, maybe years for a big project. Ancient people took decades, maybe hundreds of years for theirs. It's difficult for us to comprehend.

Yes I also saw that demo, but those were  90 degree outside corners, that technique would not work on a 90 degree inside corner.

Scientists are just realizing that we got hit about 12000 years ago by a asteroid in Greenland. This may very well be where the flood stories of the Bible and many other religions came from. Some of these stone monuments may have been made prior to the impact and man came back to use and improve on them.

Sphinx may be older than the Egyptians. Some see weathering from water and that couldn’t have happened unless it was 12000 years old. Also rumored to have a chamber underneath it with records.

It's just a matter of labor.  Yes, they're impressive, but enough people and time can shape granite in that matter.  What is amazing is the size and scope, as it would appear to take several generations of nonstop work to do it.

That is what amazes me.

Pumapunku is right around 13,000 feet and some of the stones used weighed 100+ tons and were quarried 6 miles away. Imagine the logistics problems you'd face maintaining a sizable labor force 2.5 miles above sea level. Growing food on site using primitive agriculture at elevation or just creating a system to bring food up from the lowlands is a feat in its own right.

Yeah, I know.  Sigh...

Granite construction exists in South America, Africa, India, Europe, and East Asia.  What makes more sense: ancient folks figured out how to do shit with what they had (you know, like they did everything else), or ancient visitors traveled across the galaxy, cut rocks for them (leaving no other traces of their passage or other evidence), then hauled ass.
