I have a few I really like, but my favorite so far is Barrister & Man Tallow Shaving Soap, Seville.
I also like Test of Shave and Razorock shaving soap. What are your favorites? Any soaps you want to try out? I still want to try out the coconut Mikes Natural Soap when he updates his inventory. Just updated with poll. |
| Stirling. Usually the "Gin and Tonic" or "Sharp Dressed Man", but I also have some of their " Bay Rum" soap that I use on occasion. I'm using a sample of "Ben Franklin" right now, but i'm not all that crazy about the scent. I'll give it one more shot, and then I'll scrape it out of the tin and into the trash. |

Mystic Water Sweet Briar & Mitchell's Wool Fat.
I have very hard water in N Texas (150-180 range) MWF has never been difficult to lather and feels great on my skin. I had issues lathering Mystic Water at first, but once I upgraded from the drug store brushes to a Whipped Dog 30mm Synthetic - it's been no problem. ETA -I've been told that if I like MWF, I should really try Haslinger... |
| B&M Cheshire and Lavanille are both great. I enjoy the Bay Rum scent as well, but with Bay Rum aftershave it all becomes a little too Bay Rummy for me. Their Latha soap is nice too. I'm using the Taiga scent right now. Very woodsy. |

I have SSAD, so I don't know which is my favorite.  I literally have dozens of soaps, many of which I've not yet had the pleasure to try, and have a list of others to purchase when they get released (seasonals, limited editions, etc.).
Based on what I have used, and if I'm going off performance, then Cella (in the red tub) is great, Phoenix&Beau's "Spitfire" was most excellent, KShaveWorx was pretty dang good, anything from Chiseled Face (though so far Sherlock and Summer Storm are my two favorites from them), and CRSW. Scent-wise, Spitfire, Sherlock, and Summer Storm are at the top for now, but KShaveWorx's Frosen was great, Catie's Bubbles Irish Cream was lovely, and Ghost Ship from Beaver Woodwright was quite nice also. I started wet shaving to have something I could slow down, relax, and enjoy doing. The wife kept telling me I didn't know how to relax, so this helps out a lot. Because of that, however, it's become an experience rather than a chore, so I not only want good performance, but a great scent. Hence why I've got so many soaps, because I'm trying out all kinds of stuff to see what I most enjoy. I've got soaps from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, WSP, Catie's Bubbles, Barrister&Mann, Chiseled Face, Cella, Cold River Soap Works, Phoenix&Beau, Strop Shoppe, Soap Commander, Tabac, TTFFC, MaggardRazor's, Tim's Soaps, Mason Boutique, Beaver Woodwright, Dr. Jon's, etc., etc., etc. It's made shaving fun again, but boy do I need to whittle down the den!

I haven't used a lot of soaps as I was almost entirely using creams for years. With the purchase of a synthetic brush, I've been using soap almost exclusively since Christmas last. My favorite so far is Tabac. Love the smell and it lathers so well with the synthetic. |

I love Arko. Its cheap, but lathers up amazingly well. I started with a Taylor of old Bond Street Saldalwood. when i ran out i bought Arko shave sticks and I cut the sticks into little thin circles and fill up the old shaving soap bowl. Been doing this for three years now. |
| Since you only put soaps in the poll I voted for Mitchell's Wool Fat. I have a cake of it under the Kent brand and it is good stuff however my favorite is a cream, Taylor's Shave Shop. However I don't like the new reformulation they made back in 2010 or 2011. After speaking with the company head I financed a large order of their entire old stock on hand and have been hording it. |
