Timex won't sell just a bracelet, so I purchased the cheapest Marlin watch with a bracelet I could find and switched the strap for the bracelet. Then, I resold the second watch on the strap. I think when it was all said and done it cost me about $80 for the bracelet. It was a pain but I don't wear watches on straps. |

Grabbed this as a cheapie travel watch... not so much as in actual traveling, but when going to NYC and want something that looks decent but if it gets jacked I won't lose sleep. One of the most beautiful dials I've ever seen even if the bracelet feels chintzy.

I always buy a watch for truly monumental occasions, not that I don’t buy watches for shits and giggles… but I knew my boy would soon cross the bridge, and I wanted something unique to remember him buy. About a week ago I ordered this, thought I wouldn’t “need” it for awhile, but the past couple of days it became apparent we needed to say goodbye and scheduled the first appointment available which was today at 3:30pm. As the vet was leaving our home the postman walked up and handed me the box with the tribute watch in it, was not expecting it to arrive until next week. Chills ran down my spine when he handed me the box. Why do we buy watches to signify special events - whether celebratory or sorrowful? Because they remind us how precious time is and not to waste a moment.

Another Elgin hot off the bench and back from the dead. Attached File Attached File I got it regulated to a cross-positional average of -3.3s/day, too. I’ll have to check tomorrow after some wind down, but not bad at all for a 116 year old watch. |
